18 December 2018 - O Little Town of Cheyenne/Far, Far Away on Wyoming's Plains

Hey everyone,

I didn't know which subject was better, so I just used both. They were just both hilarious I couldn't choose one...I inserted where I am into Christmas songs....im funny.

Super cool thing happened last Wednesday. We decided to go out to find some people, even though it was CRAZY windy outside. Nobody was outside, we were the only crazy ones, so we were knocking doors. It was terrible, nobody could even hear me at their doorstep. We decided it wasn't working so together we decided to knock two more doors and find something else to do. Well the next door a guy opened the door and a HUGE gust of wind came and knocked me off his front doorstep. I stepped back up to talk to him because I had to be close so he could hear me, and the wind blew me back off!! He yelled at us to come inside hahaha. Elijah said the Lord wasn't in the wind, but I think maybe this time he was. (2 kings 19:11). We started talking to him inside and he told us right away he wasn't interested in being "recruited", but he mentioned that he had been taught before. We asked him why he stopped and apparently he just moved and then wasn't interested in finding us.....he moved and missionaries found him again...hmmm. He gave us some cookies, and he asked US for a Book of Mormon, and we went on our way back into the hurricane. Had it been a normal day I think he would've just said he wasn't interested and closed to door, super cool miracle. We'll be back to check up on him.

We had a lesson with Relph Thursday morning and it was fantastic and he kept asking questions, then decided for himself that's he needs to just listen to what we said and pray to know that what we have said is true. It was kinda cool to see him commit HIMSELF to pray about Joseph Smith and the book of Mormon. That night we finished all the lessons for a girl who is getting baptized on December 29th! She is one of the reasons I'm SO stoked to still be here in cornerstone. I mean I'm not necessary for her baptism to happen but I wanna see her enter those waters then receive the holy ghost the next day!!

Service Friday morning was fun. They always like to give us food it's fantastic. This one lady kept getting mad at me because I wasn't taking enough! I started by filling up two little to-go boxes and ended up walking out the door with a whole grocery bag full of food....im not complaining its just funny. We had some success finding a person that I think can go somewhere later that day. We were talking with him and taught him about the Book of Mormon and gave one to him, then he asked for a SECOND one to give to his son. That made us excited, I can't wait to go back and follow up with him.

Saturday morning we went to the "transfer breakfast" the stake dies the first Saturday after every transfer to get to know all the new missionaries to the stake. I've been to 4 now, so by this point instead of getting to know me I'm just getting free food. We helped set up our ward Christmas party in the afternoon and it was beautiful, and we went to the party later. It was a good time, there was actually a LOT of nonmembers to talk to. Nobody wanted us to teach them, but I think there was some success in the fact that they saw that missionaries from the church of Jesus christ of Latter Day Saints are normal people and don't have horns.

Sunday was good as always. Kairi (the girl being Baptized on the 29th) had her baptismal interview so she is officially officially getting baptized! Monday was a BUENO day. We went to the "Chinese grill" again (the Mongolian grill that isn't really Mongolian so we call it Chinese grill....but it's still DElicious). A super cool member from our ward took us because he doesn't have a dinner table. Hes in the airforce and came here to Cheyenne in August pretty much exactly when I got here. We asked him about work and he legit flew a helicopter that morning, he is legit. He told me how awesome the airforce is too which was legit, but he was deployed in Iraq last year DURING Christmas and his sister is at basic right now through Christmas and new years. That night something SUPER COOL SCARY happened! We had about 30 minutes between a lesson and language study (we decided to start doing language study from 8-9 most of the time, it's better than 3.5 hours in the morning). So we decided to go contact some people we haven't been able to get a hold of in a while. We drive to this guy's house, Billy, and parked and said a prayer in the car. I asked that we would be able to set up a return appointment and ended the prayer. Immediately after we opened our eyes and big, bearded, bald man knocked on our car window....it was BILLY!! Apparently he saw us outside somehow and we talked with him, turns out he's been trying to get a hold of us but had the wrong number... But we set up an appointment for Saturday. Literally seconds after I spoke the words to that prayer, the answer KNOCKED ON OUR WINDOW. I know that there are no coincidences...

Spiritual thought: Sometimes it is REALLY hard to be diligent. My body wants to just go home and sleep sometimes. I know there is work I have to do but it is hard....Jesus Christ is my perfect example to look to for someone to work diligently. I read  Luke 4 and learned a lot of about how Jesus Christ worked. He went to. Nazareth (his home) and started teaching and the people rejected him. Apparently they wanted to throw him off of a hill! (Luke 4:29). He escaped and immediately went to another city to teach. Most people agree being rejected so much would probably give up. The people in Capernaum that he taught responded differently and were "astonished at his doctrine". In verse 40 it mentioned that the sun was setting and he was still healing people....he had worked all day. The next day he was leaving and the people begged him to stay, but he told them "I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities". Even after success and working ALL day he STILL didn't stop teaching. I kept pondering this thought of how diligently the Lord ministered. I thought of His Atonement, and all he did and went through those last days of his life. John 19:30, "he said it is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost". Finally after all the hard work he had done in those 3 years of ministry, and especially finally after all the pain and agony of those last two days, it was finished. But was HE really finished? No he was not, we know immediately after His death the three days before he rose again he set up the work in the spirit world. And then he rose on the 3rd day and continued to work for the salvation of US. He never gave up. The Savior Jesus Christ is the perfect example of working diligently, and I have no reason to give up when He did so much for me.

Fun stuff:
-on Saturday we were fed breakfast, and lunch, AND dinner
-theres holes in our wall from a dart board that was hung up a while ago (that got confiscated) but we were told we needed to fill them. Fun fact-toothpaste works great
-I met a less active lady who cuts hair and she felt mine and was disappointed in the shampoo I use...she said she'd come to church so she can find me and give me shampoo for Christmas!!
-the weather here has been glorious, yesterday it was like on the 50s
-I thought this guy looked exactly like their baby but realized it was just because they were both chubby and bald...

Pictures:
-I acquired a mannequin hand and attached it to the car...if you've been in my car at home you'll know that I have NOT changed at all
-i held it like this and thought it was funnier hahaha
