26 February 2019 - God is Jon Schimdt and I'm a piano

Good week being an instrument in the masters hands!

Tuesday night started the week of being led by the Lord. We had dinner with a really cool family and they mentioned their cousins that live in town that we should go see. We went by that night and this woman knew exactly who sent us. She wasnt interested in us teaching her or anything, but she was super friendly. Then she mentioned that she had been thinking about Charlie (Charlie sent us) recently and felt like she should contact him. So apparently they both have been thinking about each other but haven't actually talked to each other yet. So we promised her the Lord sent us to help her realize she needs to call him and we committed her to call him after we left!

Wednesday was a fun day, we wasted SO much time at a car place getting our truck fixed. BUT it was good after that, we talked to a lot of people. Then that nught we had a lesson at 7:30, 8:00, and 8:30. It was pretty insane but we were somehow able to get short, powerful lessons in with everyone!

Another blessing of being an instrument in the Lord's hand Thursday morning. On our way to basketball to exercise in the morning we saw a lady stuck in her car in the middle of the road. It died or something. We showed up and got out to help her and as we were walking up to her a police officer saw and blocked off the road real quick and we were able to push her. It's SO amazing that I was able to see that Heavenly Father was looking after, and cared about this girl stuck in a dead car on a Thursday morning. So he sent a couple of His servants in her path to help. That evening we were invited to go teach a relief society activity about sharing the gospel and it was AMAZING. We were bold and basically told them they have to do more than just pray for missionary opportunities, although that is good, we have to go out and DO.

More miracles on Friday. In the evening we were driving to the church building after dinner. (it's nice to be a missionary and have keys to the church building....the church bathrooms are great...) ANYWAY I was focused on getting to the church, and Elder Buchanan saw a lady who walked into her house and felt like we needed to talk to her. We flipped around and went and knocked on her door and she was SUPER prepared. She invited us in, but we couldn't go in, so we set up a return appointment, but HUGE blessing having success just seeing someone walk into their house. A similar experience happened later in the night. We were driving down a street and Elder Buchanan was busy reporting something on the phone and I saw this woman walking down the side of the road. I felt impressed to talk to her but totally failed and was already past her. Sooooo I flipped around and we rolled down the window and talked to her. We started being able to see her better and she was only wearing socks, yoga pants, and a hoodie, and she started crying telling us she was cold and needed us to call the police for her. Long story short we did all we could for her, prayed, and a couple officers came to take care of her. We gave her a book of mormon before we left. It was another experience when I knew God was looking out for His precious daughter. I know he cares for and watches our for each one of us individually. And he hears your prayers. Every. Single. Word.

Sunday was a good day. We had a devotional the missionaries put together with a member of the stake presidency with people who recently joined the church sharing their testimonies. It was fantastic, a sister from our district from Tonga, sang in Tongan which was pretty cool. We invited a lot of people and when it started nobody was there. BUT about 10 minutes in one person named Dale showed up! It was suoer exciting to see him there. He left real quick after because he needed sleep and was working from 4am to 6pm the next day. Hopefully it touched his heart somehowx we're meeting with him next Sunday.

Monday was a good day! One cool experience, we walked past a friendly girl and waved to her in her truck, and walked past. Totally were upset at ourselves that we didn't talk to her.....so we talked about it....ans turned around and knocked on her window. She was super great, accepted a Book of Mormon, and we are going to try to go by her house sometime! We talked to 33 people that day and only 3 showed any interest but those 3 are the reason I'm out!

Spiritual thought: In the scriptures the phrase "prayer of faith" or something similar to that is used. It is important to pray with faith and not just pray. So how do you pray with faith? You trust you will receive an answer, then you go and LIVE your prayers. As missionaries we can't pray in the morning that we will be led to someone, then sit in our apartment all day. We go our and talk to EVERYONE we see, THEN the Lord answers our prayer and 1 out of the 10000 people we talk to is the answer to our prayer. We have to act and show the Lord we are willing to do something, then he will answer us. I promise there is so much power in prayer, I wouldn't get through my mission without it. Take advantage of the wonderful gift to speak individually with the greatest, most omnipotent being in the universe. Have a conversation, make them sincere, then go out and LIVE your prayers, and you will see miracles.

Fun stuff
-I set off the smoke alarm for the 2nd time on my mission. I just want to make eggs without starting a fire!
-I rolled down my window one night and talked to these people at a red light. Offered a book of mormon and they said they'd take one, BUT the light turned green. The lady yelled "quick toss it" so I grabbed a book and tossed it perfectly through from our car to theirs into her hands. The spirit guided that flying holy scripture.
-someone tried to argue with us on our beliefs but we ended up believing in the same thing....
-we've talked to at least 20 new people who aren't members or the church every day this week!
-a super cool guy in my ward, Bart Ringer, wrote a Book called "Routine patrol, memoirs of a small-town cop". It's on amazon and other websites. Apparently has colorful language because of some of the experiences he had with people being a cop in Riverton Wyoming, but you all should buy it the last story was very cool!!

Pictures
-we took this picture doing service a while ago and I can't remember if I ever sent it
-I found a dead crow while shoveling snow and buried it and did a little funeral and Elder Buchanan took pictures of me.
-Zone Conference
-I like candy
-first time I've ever seen a duck crossing sign
-us being bored out of our minds waiting for our truck to get fixed
-I got my head stuck in a chair
