Hello people
Well last Tuesday we had preparation day with the sunrise District. Somehow we decided we were going to get pedicures. Honestly best decision ever I can't believe I've been missing out on this my whole life. AND the lady that owned it somehow convinced all the Elders to get color so rn I have red toenails. The rest of the day was good, I've met so many great people and missionaries on my mission. Crazy to think of I decided not to serve a missiom, I would miss out on knowing all these great people.
Wednesday we were on exchanges with a set of elders from Gering Nebraska. We spent a lot of time in the morning together because we had a meeting that morning, got lunch together, then did service together. BUT when we finally split up I realized we really didn't know what to do. So we came up with some options and prayed and decided to go contact this guy named Alex. Well Alex wasn't home, BUT his neighbors across the street were out. So we started talking to them and they were actually moving out so we started helping, lifted a washer and everything. As we were helping we were just talking and shared some scriptures from the Book of Mormon, this lady even asked "does your church baptize". It was pretty amazing to have the Lord lead us to exactly where we needed to be. That night the elders stayed and ANOTHER set of elders from Torrington Wyoming came to stay the night for some conference, which was on Thursday.
Zone Conference was great, kinda weird because of a new mission president everything was the same. But it was great as always, and always good to see all the other missionaries. Then that evening we had a pretty cool experience, a member called us and said "I need help lifting someone, here's the address". Kinds strange we had no idea what that meant but we headed over and this poor old man actually needed help being lifted up into a chair then into his bed. It was pretty humbling and a huge blessing to be able to help someone out like that.
Wednesday we were promised by a guy we do service for at the bird farm that he would take us out to Mongolian grill because of all the hard work we do. So we went and worked and me and Elder Magleby dug a 6 foot deep hole. But the guy got called into work and couldn't take us....so we just took ourselves and Mongolian grill was amazing. We had an amazing lesson with Jamie, who recently got baptized, that evening. She even bought us some donuts from the corner store nearby. We talked a lot about the Atonement and shared the story from mosiah 24 and it was the best, THAT is one of the reasons I love my mission. Teaching people that through their hard times Christ IS there.
Church was great om Sunday, this part member family who we helped move in but haven't been able to make it to church since, walked into church! I was super happy to see them and the ward took them in, the bishop even brought them into his office so he could make sure the husband's records were all there and stuff. The church is amazing. Then that night there was a fireside about depression, anxiety, and suicide by this guy named Brother Jacob's. We brought Jamie along with us and went and it was pretty good. We got home from them, packed, then took off for Loveland Colorado for exchanges on Monday.
Monday I was on exchanges with Elder Asher all day. It was pretty cool because about a year ago I went on exchanges with Elder Asher when he was my Zone leader in Cheyenne. It was great we got led to a lot of people and taught a lot. That night we went to contact someone, they told us they were catholic and not interested in a message about Jesus, so we walked back to our car. But we saw these people across the street and went and talked with them. Turned out they had a flat tire and they were old and needed help. Super cool how the Lord led us to where we needed to be and to help, even though we thought it was for a different reason. We jacked up their car, got the tire off. Then we heard a scream and the car slipped off the jack and crashed to the ground.....Me and Elder Asher pretended like it was all cool and everything was okay BUT we were actually freaking out a little bit. Long story short we used blocks of wood and a second jack and got everything fixed. No sweat. It was a great day.
Fun stuff:
-we helped people move and they had legit pictures of animals and we complimented them. So they said take them.
-we went to WING STOP when we were on exchanges in Loveland and it was amazing....the more and more I eat wing stop and canes and Cafe Rio, i love being a stateside missionary.
-opening a locked door with a credit card came in handy thus week
Spiritual thought:
At the fireside on sunday night, the guy giving it said "it doesn't matter what else you do if you don't start with love". He was talking about how to help people with depression and anxiety and stuff. But it applies with more than that I'm sure. The Bible and book of mormon both teach us, if you don't have charity you have nothing. You can have faith to move mountains, but if you don't have charity you have nothing. I'm so grateful for the love of God that I've been blessed to have in my mission, I truly do love the people I've met and it's kinda crazy. I got sent to Wyoming and met strangers but i love them more than I've loved anyone other than maybe my family. We all just need to continue to love those around us, and it will have a big difference.
Pictures:
-we have a lacrosse stick in our apartment, and one night the sunset looked amazing so naturally we went and had a photoshoot
-Zone conference pics
-we got hats for working Fronteir days
-pedicures
-us in the hole
-I put these pictures up near the sink and there's a tiger one somewhere else, kinda trying to figure out how to out it in my bathroom
