8 October 2019 - Hope Of Longmont

Hey everyone! First time I'm emailing from Colorado in 14 months of serving in a Colorado mission. Things are going great here!

Finding out I was transferring Monday night, then spending all Tuesday to pack, AND we had to drive an Elder down to Colorado that night at 5, I didn't have much time to say goodbye to people. Wasn't too bad, people get it, but recent Converts not as much. So we finished out preparation day a little early so that we could stop by Jamie and talk with her then we stopped by Brian. Sheesh that was kinda sad. It'll be fine but I truly have been blessing love of God for those two people. And in doctrine covenants when it talks about how great your joy will be from bringing souls to Him, I testify that that's true. The work will go on without me, and the Lord doesn't need me for this work. So I am so grateful the Lord allows me to help him in his work, and especially for allowed me to be a small part of a few peoples journeys to Christ here in Cheyenne. Drove down to Windsor that night to pick up an Elders new missionary, and met all the new missionaries. It was a fun time.

Wednesday was transfer day, lots of stuff we had to do, but it was nice. One of the best parts of the day was honestly seeing Elder Chinbaatar!! He was transferring to Cheyenne Zone just as I left, which was a huge bummer. But great to see him and talk to him before I left. Kinds funny, Elded Buchanan (my other "son") Has been in Longmont zone since he left me, but now that I'm coming, he was transfered to Sterling Colorado. My kids just wanna stay away from me I guess. Got to Longmont went to work. We met a dude that night who was down to meet, which was a huge miracle. We could've easily spent the rest of the night unpacking or wasting time, but the Lord blessed us for going out. If we didn't we would've missed the chance to teach Carl.

Thursday we had a meeting with the whole Zone, which was great I was able to meet everyone. Lots of missionaries that have been in Colorado their whole missions that I've never met before. Went to wing stop before, which is bad because they have wingstop in the city of Longmont...there goes my good eating habits and my spending habits. That afternoon we went to an apartment complex where we had 2 lessons scheduled. Both of which would be us starting to teach new people we've never taught before. We were excited and prayed for the Lord to help us teach new people, aaaaand both appointments fell through. So we continued working in the area, talked to everyone, contacted some people. Then as we were walking down the sidewalk, we almost last these 2 people sitting on their porch. I talked to them and they denied me right away, because they were good catholics and weren't looking for a different religion. I told them that was great, but out message was for everyone. So one Kady stood up and told us she had 10 minutes. We started teaching her and it was great! The Lord provides, but if we don't do our part we could miss the miracles.

We had a breakfast with the stake president and all the missionaries in the zone on Friday. Went out and taught some people, did everything we could to help the people we're teaching to watch general Conference.

Conference weekend was amazing! In the words of the homeless dude who came to conference with us last October "wow that was a FEAST". There wasn't a messga prepared that didn't have something in it that was for me. Conference was awesome, but 4 hours of sitting makes one tired. The thought of going out to work sounded tiring, BUT after getting out the Lord blessed us with renewed strength and we saw miracles.

Monday was great, highlight of the day was a lesson with this lady who has 3 kids and recently got pregnant with TWINS. The lessons we have been teaching her have been perfect for her, and on Monday we went over the Plan of salvation with a member there. Everything we talked about she needed to hear, and as we were teaching about the spirit world, one thing led to another and she is planning on being Baptized in November! We set a date with her, and just so happens to be her birthday. So it'll be her birthday and her rebirth day! She finished out lesson with one of the coolest prayers I've ever heard, and she prayed specifically for us and for us to find more people to teach! She's awesome.

Fun stuff:
-Elder Brimleys sister was companions with my cousin in Idaho. Sister Brimley and Sister Milius are not Elder Brimley and Elder Milius!
-I twisted my ankle playing basketball a little bit ago and this last week I twisted the same one 2 times
-we helped a lady take apart an entertainment center and move it to an apartment in the same complex. Idk how we did it but we did it.
-this lady looked at us and she said elder Brimley looks like someone who is always in trouble and I look like a doctor. Made fun of Elder Brimley about that for a little bit.

Spiritual Thought: I learned a lot this past weekend from General Conference. One little thing that I enjoyed a lot of President M. Russell Ballard's talk. Specifically his comments about the battle between our body and our spirit. I've thought about this a lot and his words helped me a lot. It truly is a harder way to choose your spirit over your body. When I have a choice between eating that piece of cake or not eating it, my body often wins. But the truth is, although it is harder it is always better. It is true that the more holy you are the happier you will be. Daily repentance reminds your body who is in charge. Make sure you know who is in charge.
