19 November 2019 -MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎁🌵

Elder Milius:"It's never too early to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ"
Random Sister: "But...thanksgiving"
Elder Milius: "I'M THANKFUL FOR CHRISTMAS"

It's been a busy week, lots of random stuff.

This last Tuesday evening we had a good lesson. It is with this guy who is super prepared to be baptized, but is overcoming some things, he'll probably be baptized mid-december (white Christmas). BUT because he's so prepared, coming up with lesson plans for him has been strange because we don't really know what else he needs us to teach him to prepare him. So we basically came up with a short plan and just went in trusting the Lord would take over. And He did! We talked about a lot and eventually closed by talking about Christ's Atonement. I had a thought about advice a received a while ago, "if you ever don't know what to say, speak of Christ". Tuesday night that worked, it was one of the most spiritual lessons I've been to.

Wednesday was transfer day, and even though we weren't gettyting transfered it was a LONG day. We moved apartments and did a lot of other random stuff.

Thursday morning was fantastic. At the beginning of every transfer the Longmont stake president had all the missionaries over for breakfast. This transfer we did it the day after, and it was super good. We eat breakfast, talk with each other, good times....then we meet together in his living room for "vision time". I have loved all the stake presidents, bishops, high councilmen, ward leaders and stake leaders I've met on my mission. Many have honestly made huge impacts to my life. What was shared this last Thursday by the stake president was amazing. I honestly can't describe exactly what I learned or felt but I know who I represent. I am a representative of Jesus Christ and I understand even more perfectly now the reality of Him working along side us.

Friday morning was full of district councils. Always good, interested meetings this week though. Me and Elder Brimley opened up to D&C 121 and 122 in both councils. Definitely learned a lot spiritually this week (like every week). Friday night we had a cool experience. We get fed really well in this ward, and we texted our dinner appointment in the morning. They never got back to us so we just assumed we'd feed ourselves. Around 5 (when we usually have dinner with members) we decided to go to a specific place to knock some doors. As soon as we parked we got a call. I didn't answer it because I realized it was probably dinner and kinda just wanted to knock the doors. The member left a voicemail saying that his cell phone broke but they were expecting us at 5pm. As amazing as free food is, we were really pumped and wanted to go out and preach the gospel! Felt like a worthy cause. But the decision was rough, obviously we shouldn't bail on this member. Tried justifying knocking for 30 minutes, then showing up to dinner a little late. We eventually sad a prayer and both realized that we were not seeking HIS will but our own...felt a little chastised. When to dinner and had a good time, even though the sloppy Joe's were cold because we were late. Left dinner and went back to the area where we were going to knock. Found nobody that was interested....but we moved on somewhere else. The first door we knocked on this street we met someone who let us teach them for 20 minutes. Super solid guy and super kind. Definitely felt blessed from the Lord by seeking His will....He knows what He's doing I don't know why I try to do things my way sometimes. In the words of Elder Wong of the Seventy "you make the biggest mistake when you want to do it your way"

Saturday we had exchanges in Winsdor. Usually for these exchanges we go to Loveland, but the missionaries we exchange with switched areas and are now in Windsor. So that was an adventure, they both got to their area on Wednesday evening and had only been there a few days. Hadn't even unpacked yet. So that was exciting. I was with Elder Hughes who I've been on an exchange with before. We had zero plans for the day, but went out and were we're able to find a few people to teach and talk to. The Lord provides.

Sunday was busy! Had a good day and finished it off with a lesson. We brought a member with us to this lesson who connected with the person we were teaching super well. We just read a tiny section of 1 Nephi 8 and had a great discussion. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and it is powerful.

Spiritual thought: I want to testify of the unending love that God has for you. Roman's 8:38-39-> NOTHING can separate you from the love of God. And that love truly is manifested in the fact that he gave his Olny Begotten Son. (John 3:16, 1 John 4:9). He sent his son to bleed, to suffer, and to die for you. His creations are so vast and expansive yet he CLEAVES to you (Jacob 6:5). I know with no doubt in my mind that the creator of the universe and the Father of everything, Jesus Christ and God the Father, they love YOU. I remember one point in my mission where I taught someone the plan of salvation and they texted us later thanking us for teaching them how much God loves them. Open your eyes and see What He has done for you individually and you'll know as I know, of that love. And if it's still hard to find, take the council from the Prophet Russell M. Nelson. Ask God how He feels about you. I testify if you are able to receive and hear the answer, you will know and you will feel that He does care, He does love, and He does know you.

Fun stuff:
-went to wing shack with Elder Hughes on exchanges, then for dinner the members took us out for wings. Good thing I like wings
-me and Elder Brimley get way too many sodas from circle k. It's bad to be surrounded by circle k and to have AZ BOIZ...
-speaking of circle k....last Thursday we were doing weekly planning and we stopped by circle k to grab a drink and ended up grabbing a bag of doritos as well. We were munching on them at the church building, doing our thing, ended up needing to go talk to our district leader (he was there too doing weekly planning). We left and came back to our doritos being gone. There was a member walking around cleaning the building for some reason...he grabbed the doritos. It was one of the most heartbreaking moments in my mission.

-we showed up to the church building in Lyons and there were a bunch of deer trying to worshio I guess
