10 December 2019 - Hi

Hey everyone!

Elder Milius is doing good! Last Tuesday was fantastic, we went to the temple that morning and it was the best! I love the temple, any of you who are worthy and able. GO, MAKE IT A PRIORITY. Do it to redeem the dead, but honestly it will make a big impact in YOU. Same thing as a mission. In serving to proclaim the gospel to others but the biggest impact I've seen is in myself. Then that evening we had a lesson with a guy who was most definitely a little drunk. But that's no problem, the Savior spent His time around those who were broken and needed fixing. If anything, he was a little more open with us, which is good! Still love him, and he even gave us some food he found on his counter, very friendly drunk.

On Wednesday we were on exchanges and I spent the day with Elder Thacker. I've been around him a lot throughout my mission but never on an exchange, so it was a fun time. We ended up in an area to go find some people to teach and an elementary school ended up getting out. Then we talked to a lady and walked with her and she walked us right onto the school campus. It was very uncomfortable, people were driving by giving us glares like we were scary dudes trying to teach their children. SO we got out of there and ended up somewhere else. Turns out we needed to be at that place, we met a lot of great people. One person had just had a baby, moved in, and was looking for a church....AND it's Christmastime! We ended up asking this dad holding his 2 month old, what it was like when he had his kid. It was the most inspired question, he was said it was very spiritual and he realized what his purpose was on this earth when it happened. Wow. Then for dinner that night we got some cash given to us to take ourselves out. We decided to treat ourselves and go to Texas Roadhouse and pay the difference. Turns out the Lord actually let us their. We had a really nice waiter, was actually brand new but was doing great. During dinner him and another waiter walked up. Turned out she was a member and noticed out name tags and said that our waiter wants to learn more about the church and meet with us. How lucky are we to be led to the table on the corner where the new guy, who wants to meet with missionaries, is our waiter. AND his coworker, who was a member, actually recognized Elder Thacker from when he served in her YSA ward. He knows his sheep.

Friday we ended up on a mini exchange in Estes Park. Really cool to do some work up there, and really pretty drive. Me and Elder Salliotte drove a little ways out of Estes Park to a super small town called Ward, Colorado. Didnt seem like the most populated place to find people to teach, but we were able to talk to a few people, one of which took a book of mormon and was interested! Then we came back and still had a little time before Elder Brimley and Elder Potter came back, so we walked down the street to go to main street to talk to people. Didn't even make it there before we met this person named Kevin who was super willing to listen. Even used a little bit of my Spanish with him...all you friends out in Spanish speaking missions would be proud of me.

Saturday we worked all day nonstop. Felt really good being out speaking to every single child of God. Didnt have much left to do, so the last few hours of the day we ended up knocking doors. Really cold, really dark, some unkind people. But it was great! Those W he I had soft hearts were kind anyway, and those hardened we just said sorry and went on our way! ALSO after that night with not the most visible success, I saw on my mission Facebook page that somebody I taught a little on Cheyenne, Faustino, got baptized! So that made my night.

Sunday was great. After church we went to a nursing home with a Sunday school class and gave them poinsettias, cookies, and sang Christmas carols. That was a good time, lighting the world one by one. One old person by one old person. Had a good rest of the day, we're able to share a lot of good messages with people. Felt spiritually nourished after that Sabbath.

Monday was busy.woke up early and went to seminary and helped teach! Then we had to run to Loveland for some reason, fhdn got back around 10:30 and went on a little exchange with a couple Elders in Firestone. I hung out with Elder Litwack for a few hours and had a good time. He started his mission when I was in Cheyenne so I've been around him a lot. He followed me here to Longmont. Had a good time though, spent some time in a trailer park and met a grumpy dog that turned out to be super nice, met a guy with a missing eye that took a book of mormon and was super nice. I'm just now realizing I learned a lesson at that trailer park. Don't judge a book by its cover. The mean dog is super nice and the eyeless guy is ready for the Gospel. Had interviews with our mission president, then ran up to Lyons for dinner and spent the rest of the night at appointments.

Spiritual Thought: I've been thinking about the Saviors birth a lot this week (it's almost Christmas, what do you expect?). We all know that he went about doing good and serving, which is why we follow his example and LIGHT THE WORLD. But even at his BIRTH He was saving. The shepherds were low class, and they were the FIRST to witness the birth do the Savior. They were first to be served by Him. That first night of His birth of being surrounded by those usually looked down on, and allowing them to be raised up by Him set the tone for the rest of His life being surrounded by those who are broken and low. Also in the new world in the book of mormon he saved many. In 3 Nephi 1 we read that there was a day set apart by the nonbelievers that those who believed in Christ would be out to death, unless the Savior was born. Nephi prayed and the Lord spoke to Him, comforting him and promising that on the morrow He would be born. Just by being Bron he SAVED all the believers in the new world. He also was saving even before his mortal life, but that's a different story. The Savior saves, and he has from the beginning, His birth saved, His Atonement saves, and He continues to stand with his arm outstretched, as it was to sinking Peter, towards us. He loves you, He was born for YOU, and He was born to save.

Fun stuff:
-Ward Colorado is right on the edge of our mission, the street we were driving on was actually the border...kinda crazy. Could've stepped into Denver north mission...although I have been there before 👀
