16 March 2020 - SURPRISE 🎉

Heyyo

Sorry! Forgot to mention our preparation day this week is gonna be Monday! We have stuff to do the last Tuesday of every transfer, so as long as I'm here my pday will be weird the last week!

BTW we do know what's happening for transfers this Wednesday! Elder Hughes is out of here for his last 4 weeks, headed up to Casper Wyoming. I'm staying and Elder Garrison is my new companion.

Anyway, it's been good! Last preparation day was pretty fun, we went up to Estes Park with our district and President and Sister Palmer. It was pretty warm down here, so we weren't expecting it to be much colder in Estes. But it was...and it was snowing....still fun though!

Wednesday we had dinner that we could NOT be late for. We were serving good at this church, then eating the leftovers. We had a lesson at 530 in Severance and had to be at dinner at 5:45 in Windsor (not too far away, but different cities). Somehow it all worked out, the Lord slowed down time or something. Even though our lesson at 530 took about 5 minutes, just opening up to Mosiah and reading a few verses was powerful. The scriptures are amazing, especially the Book of Mormon. I read over things far too much.

Thursday lots of stuff with down with COVID-19. But s'all good. Not much has changed, we're just avoiding tracting and not shaking hands. We had a cool lesson that night with a family. Taught the Restoration and there were no dogs or little kids....i love both dogs and little kids BUT it was refreshing to be able to teach with no distractions! Then a 15 year old gave us cards she made for us, she even spelled my name right with only one 'L'!

Saturday we ran to the store because we needed a 14 day supply of food in case we got sick and needed to stay in. That was crazy, so much stuff was gone, I couldn't even find the ramen. Then we ran to help someone move in. They had a small uhaul and we showed up along with tons of ward members and we were done in 15 minutes. Pretty cool how willing everyone was to help and how quickly it went by wirh everyone's help.

Sunday was good, we had ward council over WebEx and could barely hear BUT it was pretty cool. Most of the time was spent assigning people to go visit and making sure everyone has the opportunity to partake of the sacrament. We got a few assignments from the ward of people to go check up on, so pretty cool! With all the craziness happening, it's making a lot of different opportunities to see good in people and serve in different ways. We were busy all day but finally after dinner around 7pm me and Elders Hughes had time to have a "sacrament meeting" on our own. Honestly a very spiritual experience. Again I think it's a blessing. Breaking a routine and focusing more on the ordinance of the sacrament and why it's so important.

Fun stuff:
-went to Canes this week. There's this guy there that's ALWAYS working, and he often stops by our table and talks us. Idk what happened but he ended up singing an Elvis Presley song to us....probably one of the best moments of my life. Eating some canes, surrounded by some good friends, having an old guy singing to me...what could be better?

Spiritual thought: Something kinda cool, 3 Nephi 18:20 says "And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you." Interesting how it teaches about prayer and in the spring of 1820 Joseph Smith offered his prayer that changed the world. Prayer is powerful. Prayer is something for the best of times and for the worst of times. Prayer is for when you're happy and you're sad. If you haven't spoken to your Father in Heaven in a while, do it...He wants to hear from his child.
