23 October 2018 - Oh deer, meat me in the baptismal font

Wassup everybody,

(You have to read the whole email to understand the subject, I apologize if my puns are awful) What a week. Last Wednesday we drove all the way down to Fort Collins in the morning because we needed to go get our car looked at. Constantly in the morning our battery won't start and we need to get a jump, so we called our vehicle coordinator, and the place he told us to go to had the closest location in Fort Collins. So that was a fun time. The rest of the day was CRAZY CRAZY, and we were busy trying to take care of stuff and a crazy situation, and we got back to our apartment at 8 and realized we didn't eat dinner. And all we ate that day was McDonald's that we drove through on the way back from FOCO. So we decided we needed something somewhat healthy, and we didn't really have that much healthy food at our apartment so we needed to go buy food (I'm running out of money because we've bought food so much recently). So we go to subway and when we're at the counter and about to pay, an old lady walks in and puts money on the counter and says "this is for the elders food" and she winks at me and walks out. So we use the cash and she was 19 cents off how much our food was....what the heck. So we run outside expecting to see her again so we can thank her again, but she was GONE. There's no way thus old lady ran off so fast. I'm telling you, an angel took a form of an old lady, and did that for us. After the crazy stressful day, I needed that tender mercy.

We had dustrict council Thursday and ate breakfast with everyone which was fun. Then Thursday night we had the best lesson ever. This person we've been teaching, Mei, is ready to be baptized on Saturday so we were meeting with her. Well for the first time her daughter Jenny, who's 15, opened up to us and decided she was ready to start listening to us. What the heck...she locked herself in her room every time we came over. Somehow we ended up being able to invite then to dinner with some members, and they even had a daughter around the same age as Jenny, and we taught the restoration and Jenny accepted the invitation to be baptized!! How did this happen, I don't know.

Friday my father died :'(...(Elder Killian went home). I was dropped off at these other elders place, Elders Dudley and Skinner. That day was a pretty average day, just did missionary work.

Saturday was the besttttt. We had to wake up super early to start filling the baptismam font, because Meis baptism was at 9:30. So we did that, and just did planning and studying at the church building until peolle started showing up. Mei showed up a little late, which was fine, but after we got changed we went right into the program without taking pictures. So when we were going to go back to perform the ordinance, she says "I need a picture" and we take a picture together right there in the middle of the service hahaha. I'll try to get that picture from her, but we'll see. The baptism went great. And I'm not happy because I "have a baptism". I am happy because Mei is baptized. I could feel the love our Heavenly Father has for her, and the love our Savior has for her. I know They were so proud of her, and I was so happy that Mei was baptized and entered through the gate into the straight and narrow path. The spirit there, and joy was SO great. The rest of the day we did some service, helping someone pull out the rest of their insulation, and painting some walls at a museum. It was a good day.

Sunday was fun. So these elders cover 2 wards, and now we're covering 3. So we started church at 9 and didn't end until 4 pm. That's a lot of church....but they were all great. And Mei was confirmed a member of the church of Jesus Christ, and was given the gift of the Holy Ghost, and I am SO happy for her, and I was stoked because her daughter was there and got to see the feel the spirit of that moment.

Monday we started the day off with some service helping someone move, then helping out at the old west museum. We had a few lessons that night, which went great, it's weird that I have excitement to teach. Like I love having the opportunity to share my testimony of Jesus Christ, I constantly have to control myself and only speak when prompted to...which is weird I usually don't like talking to strangers. The Lord has turned me into a missionary!

Spiritual thought: I was studying in Matthew and I read something Jesus said, that I've read before and really like. In Matthew 8:12-13, Christ says "they that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick....i am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance". I just love that, and it makes do much sense. Sometimes we feel we're not worthy of our Savior, but when we feel that way, we ESPECIALLY need to turn to Him. He is there especially for the lost and broken. I know our Savior is there for all of us, please turn to Him and find peace that doesn't come from anywhere else. Come unto Christ.

Fun stuff:
- Mei told Elder Killian she likes him because he looks like a "cute bear". Then when i went over Friday night she asked where the cute bear was.
-Friday night we went to someone's home, and they pulled out a bucket of raw deer meat from a deer they hunted last week. They started putting the meat into grocery bags and we ended up with 6 bags of stinky, raw meat.
-we were contacting downtown and I asked this family how they were. They said good, then I asked what they were doing (trying to start a conversation) and the mom goes "walking" and I said "have a good day", and they left quickly.
-we were talking to a dude smoking outside of a bar and he invited us in to listen to his death metal band. He was lead vocals
-I lost what are the odds yesterday while tracting and had to eat a leaf

Pictures:I failed at taking pictures this week....but shout out to my parents they found Elder Killian at the SLC airport
-selfie from service at the Old West Museum, we were breaking wood to fit into a dumpster.
