9 October 2018 - Oh snow, whyyy-oming (oh no, whyyyy?)

¿Hola, Como estas?

This week was a good one. Last Tuesday we went to the Temple!! We woke up super early and drove down to Fort Collins to be at the temple at around 7:30. It went great, the temple IS the House of the Lord. I hope everyone makes it a priority to make it to that Holy Place. The Lord will bring you blessings he already knows you need, as you make sacrifices to get there. The blessings of being in the temple overrule any sacrifice made to be worthy or to make the time to get there. After the temple we went to CANES!! There's only one Canes in the mission and it's in Fort Collins so we stopped by on the way out.

Wednesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders. I was with an Elder named Elder Asher (who is from Phoenix Arizona). We spent a lot of the day doing finding which was super fun. Downtown Cheyenne is in their area so we spent some time just walking around downtown talking to everyone we saw. We gave out multiple copies of the book of mormon and found some people willing to be taught more. It was great. Specifically one guy named Daryn we met, and he was AWESOME, I'll talk about him later in my email.

Nothing too eventful happened the next couple days. Friday as we were walking around, a tiny bit of snow started falling onto our sweaters. Elder Killian said "snow" and I thought he was lying. I am going to freeze. Also while tracting I was able to tell a guy at his door, which I we find out lost his mother when he was 7, about the Plan of salvation. I think he felt the spirit, when we shook his hand goodbye he pulled us in and gave us a hug. It was a really cool experience, and helped me appreciate the wonderful knowledge I have of God's plan for us.

Saturday came and GENERAL CONFERENCE. I am so grateful to be in the true church of christ, where we still receive revelation and direction from God for His church. Me and Elder Killian drove our church building and we were the only people there which was fun.

Sunday we went to conference again and there were a few more people there including some missionaries. Again I loved every single talk and the spirit testified to me things specifically for me from each talk. We went back home for lunch, and cane back for the afternoon session and I saw Daryn there with the zone leaders!! Since I knew him the zone leaders had me keep him company while they went and got lunch real quick. I love this guy, he is so awesome. He has really gone through some tough times in his life, but he truly is a good guy. While just sitting there talking with him, sharing him some of the gospel, I felt like I could truly see him how God sees him. He's had a hard life, but God loves him and is rejoicing for the choice he made to come watch general conference.

Let me mention something else about Daryn. He kept bringing up how great members of our church are. When we first met him, he was across the street on a bench talking with another guy. We waved at him from across the street, then went over and talked with them. He told us when he saw us he told his buddy that we would take the shirts of our backs if we had to. He mentioned how members of our church took care of his ex wife and kids when he was in prison. He said we are always there to help people even if they aren't members of our church, unlike other churches he knows. He mentioned multiple other stories of good experiences he had with members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I just want to testify that all of us are sacred beings, loved more than we can even comprehend by our Father in Heaven. Treat each other as such, whether or not they are members of the church, wherever they are on the path in life. No matter who anyone is, treat them how they should be treated(like a child of God, who LOVES them). And it really does make a difference. Even if youre not extending invitations to baptism to everyone you meet, loving them and helping them, and MINISTERING to them, makes a difference. Daryn is proof. After years, and many many interactions with loving members of Jesus Christ's church, he is finding his way to the truth. :)

Monday we woke up to snow on the cars and on the rooftops. Then constantly throughout the day it was snowing. We went out to walk around and talk to everyone we saw....we succeeded in talking to everyone we saw because we only saw like 4 people. Not many wanted to be walking around in the freezing cold.

Spiritual thought: I drew a picture this week of Christ's hands bound together by a rope when he was taken prisoner. 1 Nephi 19:9 "And the world, because of their iniquity, shall judge him to be a thing of naught; wherefore they scourge him, and he suffereth it; and they smite him, and he suffereth it. Yea, they spit upon him, and he suffereth it, because of his loving kindness and his long-suffering towards the children of men". Christ went through so much, we cannot even comprehend the pain he went through. But he suffered through it all, because of the love He has for us. Along with the picture-he chose to be bound (he CHOSE because he could've "prayed to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" -Matthew 26:53). He chose to be bound, so that we could be set free. We can be set free from the pains of death. We can be set free from our sins, no matter what we've done the Saviors Atonement has already paid the price for your sins. Repent and accept the realese from your sins. Also it can set you free from your pains and your sorrows and your trials. In the hardest, most painful part of your life-Christ understands. Come into Him and your burdens will be eased. Because Christ was bound, we can be FREE.

Fun stuff:
-we went through a drive-through at a subway and it was a cool little kiosk  thing it was awesome
-I think Elder Killian accidentally stole oatmeal from a member
-there was a Foosball table in our apartment that we are not supposed to have...we have been trying to find somebody to give it to...we were unsuccessful so we destroyed it
-we saw a bunch of cross country kids running Monday while it was snowing-made me feel better about walking around in the cold

Pictures: Temple trip pics, CANES, Christ's hands bound, shout out to my dog Katy back at home-great example of what not to do during general Conference.
