29 January 2019 - RiverTONS OF WORK

Hey everyone!!

Well Im in Riverton Wyoming now!! Last Wednesday was transfer day and we spent a lot of time driving. Although it was nice, I didn't get stuck on the transfer van, I was in a car with Elder Garcia (hes been in my district before) and Elder Halladay. We got to Riverton at like 6:30pm and I met Elder Buchanan a who is great! We had a dinner appointment, and another appointment and we got right to work it was awesome!

We saw a miracle Wednesday. There's someone that's been being taught but the last couple weeks things haven't been working out with srtting appointments. The missionaries were wondering how interested she really is. We walked by and she ended up talking to us from a window and started crying. She told us she us getting evicted from her apartment because of things she didn't do, she had to get rid of her puppy, her boyfriend is in jail, and all this crazy stuff. She then said "I've been reading that book you gave me, and it's been making me feel peace". SHES READING THE BOOK OF MORMON! We found out she had to clean her place up and we told her we would find people to help. As we were walking away we were about to call a sister from the ward that could help get sisters over to help this lady. Well the person we were going to call, drove up and rolled down her window and said hi to us!! We made her pull over and told her the situation and were able to get it all figured out. It was awesome.

Thursday we did service at a thrift store. It is a pretty cool place, I'm excited to go there more. We basically help organize, and throw out stuff that they can't sell.

Friday morning we had a fantastic lesson with a less active member. We decided to teach the plan of salvation, and we showed up and heard that her grandma had just past away. Heavenly Father knew what she needed to hear, and he just worked through us, two boys. The spirit in that lesson was amazing. This week was stake conference in the Riverton Wyoming stake, so that was awesome! We went to the adult session that night, and had two people we were teaching with us! Just like they did in cheyenne not too long ago, our president got up and had everyone get out their phones and text a name to the missionaries!! It was awesome!

On Sunday stake conference was just as awesome as the adult session. After stake conference we had a lesson with the sweetest family, but it went a little long and we got behind schedule. We had planned to go try to contact someone, then go walk to an appointment, but we had to decided wether to contact this person or walk. We decided to take it to prayer and ask Heavenly Father. We both felt good about going to contact this person, then driving to the appointment. We showed up and there were two people outside across the street from the house we were going to. I thought about talking to them, but ignored that thought and got out of the truck and went to the door without saying anything to them. Well at that moment the spirit pretty strongly let me know I was there for them and I NEEDED to talk to them. Nobody answered the door, so we went down and talked to them. We met Marie and found out she's struggling with a lot and had met missionaries before but doesn't know why she stopped meeting with them!! The Lord knew her and knew we needed to meet her. Super cool!

Monday was another average day, we met a lot of members which was nice because I don't know anyone here! And we were pretty bold and committed everyone we met to fill out a list of people they know that we can share the gospel with. I'm super excited to start work up here in Sunset Park, there are children of God here that need what I have! :)

Spiritual thought: One of my favorite scriptures is Moroni 7:40-42 "40 And again, my beloved brethren, I would speak unto you concerning hope. How is it that ye can attain unto faith, save ye shall have hope? 41 And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise. 42 Wherefore, if a man have faith he must needs have hope; for without faith there cannot be any hope." I'm so grateful for our Savior and that because of Him there is hope. Life is difficult and sometimes our trials can overwhelm us and we tell ourselves it will never get better, there is no hope. But because of Jesus Christ I testify that there always always will be hope. As long as we lean on Him and have faith in him, trust and believe he can help us, then there will always be hope and there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Fun stuff
-we met a guy from the Phillipines Thursday then Sunday night we went over to his house and there was a huge party going on. We knocked anyway, and he ended up inviting us in, feeding us, giving us drinks, and we joined his family's huge party. We had only talked to this guy once before.
-Elder Buchanan found a sleeping mat, and decided to sleep on it Monday night instead of his SUPER nice temperpedic bed
-In the same day I met someone who said "I believe in everything man" and then someone who said "I believe in the trees"...
-the apartment I live in is pretty old, it has stuff in it that says "Billings Montana Mission"
