12 March 2019 - RiverTONS of snow?

Hello everyone!

Whatta week. Last Tuesday was fun, our district got together and we went bowling. There is no bowling alley in Riverton so we drove down to Lander. Then that night we had a pretty cool experience! We were driving through a parking lot and we saw a line of cars in line for the liquor store. This liquor store had a drive-through, BUT jackpot for us we have people to talk to! We drove up to this one car and started talking. Long story short I ended up getting out of my car and teaching them, giving them a book of mormon, then they promised they would be at church on Sunday!!

Wednesday we had district council in the morning for fun because 3 people in our district were hitting their 9 month mark, and one sister was hitting her half away mark! Later that night we had a fun time. We have in our plans every day to do a "miracle hour" and "power hour". Basically miracle hour is 8-9 and we make sure we aren't in our apartment during that time and aren't before 9! And power hour we just stay out of our car for an hour. So we decided to do then together both from 8-9 and it was snowing HARD! So we went knocking doors, everyone thought we were crazy but it was great!

Thursday morning we got a text at 10 from a lady asking if we could meet at 11. We scrambler, got a member to come with us, and went and had a wonderful lesson! She is on date for baptism and working towards that goal excitedly. Then later that night we hit 100 people that we know! We've been keeping track of all the people we know (to know then we have to know their last name, family situation, a fact about them, basically have a real conversation). So that was cool.

Friday was fantastic!! Some members from Cheyenne, the Johnsons, were coming up to Riverton. So they got in touch with me and we went out to lunch together! Made elder Milius really happy, and we shared a message with them at a sub shop so that was fun. Friday night it was snowing HARD again, so we went out and knocked some doors! We taught 2 people and got 3 return appointments in an hour from 8-9.

Saturday was our day to do a "car fast". But it had snowed the night before so we had to go shovel. We just bundled up, grabbed the shovels, and went l knocking. I think we walked about 25 miles, while carrying shovels, and shoveling for people along the way. Then a miracle that night! Since we were out all day, we needed to get some studying in, so we went to the church building to study. A family in our ward was there, and they were there with some friends that they are inviting to church!! So we talked and set up an appointment to go by and teach them. Wasn't a coincidence that we were there at the same time.

Sunday was great, we were super excited to see a guy that we've been working with at church with his family. He was in a car accident the day before and destroyed his car but he was still at church! Then we had a few meetings and wore a suit all day, fun times.

Monday we had ZERO lessons planned, but ended up setting up 4 with people we are teaching throughout the day! Lots of walking and finding and knocking on people's doors and rolling windows down at red lights, good times!

Spiritual thought: We were with a really cool family Monday night having a great conversation. We got onto this certain topic. Specifically they ended up talking about their 6 year old grandson who had passed away. We talked about how, we all love chocolate cake (we were eating chocolate cake), but we know we can't eat it all the time. We wouldn't be healthy. When we were little we didn't understand why we couldn't eat chocolate cake all the time, and when that chocolate cake was taken away we didn't understand, we just thought dad was mean. Sometimes in this life we are just like little children when the Father takes away our chocolate cake. Or when he takes away our precious child who had a whole life ahead of it, or when our best friend passes away, or when we lose anything that means a lot to us and we ask God, why, why would you take that away. My mind went to 2 Nephi 2:24. "But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things.". I don't know what sometimes these hard things happen, but I trust and have faith that God knows. And I know he loves us. 1 Nephi 11:17 "And I said unto him: I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things." I promise God loves us. Recognize that we are just children, we can't always understand, but he has wisdom and "knoweth all things". Understand that God loves you, and he really does have a plan for you. He is your Father, and he wants you to follow Him, to love Him, and to return home to Him.

Fun stuff:
-we were eating baked potatoes at the home of an old couple. The husband asked if there was bacon bits and the wife said she didn't get any, and he said "I need to find a good divorce attorney".
