This week was BUENO
Last Wednesday I sent my companion, Elder Buchanan, off to Estes Park Colorado. I spent the day with Elder Michelsen until around 6pm when our companions got to Riverton. It was SUPER fun to reunite with Elder Chinbaatar! Its weird that the last time this happened I had only been out 2 transfers and he was brand new. Now he's been out over 6 months and I've been out 9 months! Also it was fun to see how much Elder Chinbaatar has grown. We had a lesson with someone and Elder Chinbaatar was talking and asking questions and his English was super good. He says that he had a good teacher (me) but I know for a fact I didn't do a good job at teaching him English.
Thursday we were going around showing people the Easter video on the street. Lots and lots of people tell us no because they already have a religion, kinds weird rejecting a video about Jesus because you're religious! One lady told us "I have time for good things and no time for bad things", so we stepped into the shade and showed her the video. She loved it but had lots of questions, started asking "so what, what happens after" and then started asking about the Book of Mormon. It is always really cool to be rejected all day and then find the one person who is prepared. Rejoice in rejection, you're just one step closer to the one!
Another miracle on Friday while walking around talking to people. At one point we saw someone across the street and were going to go talk to them...but we didn't cross the street we just went left. Which was strange because the place we were actually headed was right. BUT we saw this guy, pretty far ahead of us walking away so we shouted at him. We offered out message about Jesus Christ and he said "no" then he said "no, not right now" then he said "I mean yes" and turned around and started talking with us. Super cool to see the Holy Ghost working on this guy right in front of our eyes! He mentioned how he's always talking to God and how he was just talking to God right before we showed up. Multiple times in my mission I've been able to testify to people that God literally sent us to them and it's really cool.
We had a super cool lesson with a guy named Bryan on Saturday morning. He has some issues with our church, but as we were talking, everything he believes pretty much lines up with what we believe. And as we read scriptures from the Book of Mormon he would say things like "doesn't that just ring true to you" "that just feels right, doesn't it". Later in the day we were walking down a street and saw a guy in his car. We went off course to go talk to this guy, but he quickly rejected us. We continued down this street and walked past a movie theater, and a last opened the door and yelled "ELDERS". We went in and she gave us free popcorn and free soda, AND there were 2 members of the chufch working and 2 people who aren't members. SO we showed the Easter video to them all, and got blessed with free popcorn and soda. I firmly believe that was a blessing of me and Elder Chinbaatars faithfulness in going off course to go talk to that guy who wasn't interested.
Easter Sunday was a good day. A special day to remember the savior and His sacrifice for ME. There were a few people at church that we were really happy to see, I LOVE these people so much and the feeling when I see then walking through the doors of the church building is the best.
We had a really cool lesson Monday night too. This lady is a pretty recent convert, and her 12 year old son isn't a member. She moved here to Riverton in September but hasn't been to church since. We had met with her before but it was pretty rough to keep appointments. But a couple weeks ago her MOM got baptized. Her mom was being taught by missionaries before she even moved back, and it all worked out and she was here to see her mom be baptized. So she went to church to see her mom confirmed, then she cane to church last Sunday for Easter, and at our lesson she expressed how she has been so much happier these last two weeks that she has gone to church. We didn't even have to do anything except ask her how she felt, and she taught herself that blessings come as you keep the commandments and you're HAPPIER (mosiah 2:41).
Spiritual thought: As I was reading Alma 5 I was marking "love". Alma 5, Alma is talking to these people and he's being pretty cold with them. But multiple times he refers to them as "my beloved brethren". Charity and love is so important. Throughout the scriptures it also talks about charity and if you don't have charity you have NOTHING. Loving people is super important, and as long as someone knows that you love them you can be as bold as want. Charity isn't an easy thing to have, especially when people yell at you on the street just for being a missionary. But I've seen as I've prayed for charity, with all energy of heart, I've gained it. I love these people more than I can put into words, and this love leads me to try to help them come closer to Jesus Christ, this love is why i don't let anyone walk past me without me giving them a chance to accept something that will bless their life. Love is very important, after all love is the reasons God sent his son ("for God so loved the world"), and love is the reasons christ did what he did. Because He loves you.
