30 April 2019 - Mei, Jenny, Chinbaatar...am I back in Cheyenne?

Hola todos,

It's been a good week, Elder Milius is happy!

Last Wednesday was exciting. We got a call around 3pm that these people needed help getting out of their house by 4:15pm. We know these people, one 9 year old recently got baptized and the family is really cool. Luckily we didn't have any appointments planned so we went to help them out. I got a couch shashed into my face, but the 9 year old said I'm his favorite missionary now because of huge I was lifting the couch haha! The sheriff came at 4:15 to make sure they were out and we weren't even close, but they gave them more time because of the effort we were making.

Thursday was a good day, we had district Council in the morning then all the elders went to get lunch. A few weeks back we met this guy on the street named Phil, and turns out his the Phil that owns the "Phil's dog shack" right near our apartment, so we go pretty often now. After dinner that night we ran to an appointment with a lady who met us on the street a week ago. She recently moved back here from Phoenix and had a church she went to there, but since she got here she hasn't gone to church. She was the only one in her family was showing interest and sitting at the table with us during our lesson, BUT her husband couldn't help but feel the spirit. He was in the same room at a computer and kept turning around and asking questions, answering questions, and he even testified of the power of prayer when we started talking about it. Pretty cool!

We saw a miracle Friday night. We were walking around and it was getting close to our dinner appointment. We walked to dinner but were like 10 minutes early SO we kept walking down the street to go around the block. This lady randomly yelled at us from across the street, asked if we were missionaries then waited for the street to clear came and ran towards us. She told us a couple weeks ago a couple missionaries gave her a book of mormon, she's been reading it, she ripped out the Jesus picture in it and put it on her wall, and wants us over! It was CRAZY, she had just seen us walking in front of her house across the street! The Lord's hand was definitely in that.

We helped out this part-member family with yard work on Saturday morning and they were super grateful, told us they'll take us out to lunch sometime. The rest of the day started to get slow, and I was pretty tired. But we got ourselves to go out to walk around and talk to people. This is where ANOTHER miracle happened. We were on main Street and this car ahead of us pulls over and this girl gets out. She starts walking towards he and Elder Chinbaatar says "that's Jenny". Jenny is a 15 year old girl that I had the privilege of baptizing in cheyenne, and her baptism was Elder Chinbaatars first or second Saturday in the mission. I didn't believe him, but we got closer AND IT WAS HER. Then we walked with her to the car and MEI WAS THERE! Mei and Jenny are two of my most favorite people in the world, I was able to find, teach, and baptize both of them. When I left Cheyenne I stopped by their house each night but never was able to catch Mei to say goodbye and I was really sad. But the Lord orchestrated a way for them to be driving through Riverton, me and Elder Chinbaatar being together again, us walking down the street at the perfect time, and Jenny recognizing us. That pretty much made my week and gave me the power to get through the rest of the day. Then a few moments later a random girl pulls up and said "I have water for you guys" and gives us water then drives off.

Sunday was great. Mei and Jenny came to our ward, because on Saturday they asked us when church was knowing they'd be in town in the morning. So that was fun, then later that night we had a "missionary devotional" and a bunch of people who recently joined the church shared their testimonies, as well as a few missionaries. (including my companion Elder Chinbaatar). It was a really good day.

Monday was great as well, I was on exchanges with an elder in my district named Elder Flynn. We were able to start teaching 2 new people in just that day. One of which was completely unplanned. We were just walking around like we do, and we passed a house of a girl I've talked to before so we went and knock. We asked if she had time for a message and we just taught her right there for about 20-30 minutes.

Spirityal thought: I just want to share a quote from my favorite Mongolian companion. He went up in front of a lot of people and sgared his testimony, and the conversion story of his family basically. He explained how his father met the missionaries on the way home from work once and he said: "I was waiting for my father to get home....of course I wanted to see if he would bring home food or candies. But he brought 2 missionaries....and it changed our lives". What we do truly changes lives, we aren't just salesman, we aren't just trying to get people to church. We know this is true, we know it makes people happy, and we just love all of God's children so much that we're trying to share it with them. I heard the advice once, when you knock on someone's door, act like you have 1 million dollars in your pocket you're trying to give them. In reality we have sometime that is worth a lot more than 1 million dollars, and can make someone a lot more happy that 1 million dollars can. I know our message is true.

Fun stuff:
-we saw this guy we know, who always seems to be drunk, laying on the sidewalk on Wednesday. He saw us and told us "you guys look good....i wanna eat you"
-Elder Chinbaatar has a really cool jacket, and he let me wear it because I was cold but he wasn't because he's from Mongolia and I'm from AZ. It's been my goal since I wore it to get him to give it to me
-this one lady we're teaching told us her boyfriend doesn't like us....so she told us just to come by when he's not there haha!
-one door we knocked on, opened up and 6 dogs came out and mauled us. Mauled us in a good way, they were happy not angry, it made me happy.
