Yeehaw!
Good week in Riverton! Last Tuesday was packed, we have 3 hours of proselyting time (at least) every preparation day and recently we've been having 2 of those hours filled with lessons so that's good!
Wednesday we woke up early and went to seminary. We wanted to get into seminary one more time before it's over and we were able to and twas good. We let them ask us questions before we shared our message and they thought it was crazy that their small class that starts at 6:45 in the morning is bigger than Elder Chinbaatars seminary that starts at 5:30 in the morning in Mongolia. Then they thought it was crazy that their class is WAY smaller than my seminary class that was during the school day. That day we had some good lessons, one of which was with this young single mother just sitting on her porch watching a video about prayer. The last lesson of the night was with a guy who is less active but trying really hard to become active in the church and overcome some struggles. We went and sat outside and talked with him and it was really good. Talked a lot about the power of seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Thursday we got out and walked around and worked until dinner, then right after dinner we had to get headed down to Casper for Zone conference! A 2 hour drive kinda takes a lot of time out of your missionary work, but we took advantage of it and listened to some long talks/devotionals on the way. We spent the night with my brother (the other missionary my trainer, Elder Killian, trained).
Friday was zone conference and was good as always. I randomly got called up to teach a key principle from the gospel of Jesus christ in front of everybody to my mission president so that'd was fun. Afterwards we drove home and got back in time to eat dinner and do some personal study.
Saturday we branded some cows again!! Last time we branded we had 40 calves, and this time there was 150. So we brought the other set of Elders with us and they had some more people there, it was super fun. That evening we went out knocking doors in the cold and had some good genuine conversations with people, only like one person we met who was grumpy. One guy we ended up going back to our truck and grabbing a Bible and book of mormon for him. Later that night we got a call from our bishop asking if we could visit someone in the hospital. Someone from a ward in Meeteese had driven down here and fell and broke her arm and shoulder and her relief society president wanted someone to go by and just let her know the ward loves her and her Heavenly Father loves her. With graduation parties and stuff going on we were the only ones available. So we were one it, and weren't and found her in the hospital and just sat and talked. It is one of the coolest things to be able to be the answer to somone else's prayer, and to literally be the hands of God.
Sunday we had a miracle. Someone were teaching posted something amazing on Facebook. We've asked this guy about baotizm before and he rejected the idea. But randomly on Sunday he posted on Facebook that he had been reading in a chapter that we didn't even ask him to read, and said "those who repent, are baptized, and keep the commandments with have eternal life". What?!?! Me and Elder Chinbaatar were freaking out, were actually giving him a tour of the chapel later tonight so we're super excited.
Yesterday our service fell through and we didn't know what to do so we were kinds just driving around. We said a prayer and decided to go contact some people, but talk to everyone we see while along the way. We ended up pulling over to this random guy we saw on the side of the road and Elder Chinbaatar offered him our message. He said he had time and we ended up parking the car, getting out, and teaching him a full lesson right there on the side of the road! Im positive the Lord is working through us and making things work out so things like that can happen. Had some other lessons that day and went well and worked hard even though it's freezing cold!!
Spiritual thought: I was reading in Alma 49 this week and had a cool thought. The Laminites come to attack a city that they had destroyed in the past, Ammoniahah. They thought it would be easy because they had destroyed it before, but to their surprise it had been fortified and was stronger than before. It actually says that "they were prepared for them in a manner which never had been known among the children of Lehi". The Laminites leave and go to a different city that they also thought was weak and would be easy for them. Again go their surprise it was fortified. All of the weak cities had been fortified and secured and surprised the laminates who assumed they would easily be able to destroy them. Relating it to us. Satan knows where our weak parts are. He knows where he's been able to get us and attack us before. Our job is to fortify and to defend those weak spots so when he comes again to try to destroy us in those places, he's astonished at how fortified and secured they are. I know with Christ's help, there is no temptiom or struggle too great for us. And we can fortify and defend by praying every day, studying and feastikg upon thr scriptures every day. Don't miss a day and allow yourself to be left weak and defenseless.
Fun stuff:
-I won a pen at zone conference because I haven't missed a week writing my president a letter
-it's SNOWING
-this time when we were branding the cows, they were also castrating them. Two of my dreams: see a giant cyst popped and see a castration, both of which have come true while branding cows....my life is complete
Pictures:
-some pics from ZC
-some pics from branding
-I feel super cool having boots that have blood on then from castrating cows, YEEAW
-Snow???
