18 June 2019 - Happy Father's Day Steve!

Hola hijos,

Last Tuesday great! Good preparation day, we hung out with one of the districts for their "district preparation day" then we went to taco bell and ate too many nacho fries (this is only the first nacho fry trip of the week). BUT the best part of the day was that evening. We met this guy we're teaching, Brian, at outback because he saw our meal Calendar when we passed it around at church and he wanted to feed us. So we had great food but then we started teaching him. He told us the only thing that would keep him from being Baptized is tithing. We had never taught him about it he just knew about it SO we taught him. In the outback, with TV screens everywherex music playing, sitting right next to the bar (which he apologized to he about hahaha), the spirit was so strong. Then we brought up baptism and how we know he is ready. He truly is one of the most prepared guys I've met. There's more stuff that happened with this guy later in the week but I'll talk about it later.

We had a great lesson with a guy named Alex Wednesday. It's been hard to get a hold of him because he doesn't have a phone and works all the time at maverick, BUT last week we set up this appointment when we found him at work. So we showed up and he was there, he lives in a pretty stretchy trailer park and he himself had a huge beard and deep voice BUT he is amazing. He's in 2 Nephi 20 and understands everything he's reading and loves it, he even opened up to some of his favorite scriptures he's read and shared them it was awesome. He wants to be baptized but is living with his fiance SO we taught him and told him he has to either get married for move out and he's working on it.

Thursday we were on exchanges with our district leader, Elder Bogle. Me and else Halladay were with Elder Bogle and Elder Fazar went with his companion, Elder Tate. Twas a fun time, all 3 of us are from Gilberlt Arizona and all 3 of us went to the 3 high schools which have lots of members of the church. Highland, Mountain View, and Perry. It was a good day, there was a baptism in the zone so lots of missionaries showed up with people theyre teaching. BRIAN, the guy I was talking about earlier, CAME AND LOVED IT. He keeps all the commitments and invitations we extend to him, so that was awesome. Later we taught this couple that are also living together but progressing towards baptism. They said this next week they will be getting married! Twas a good lesson, we read Enos 1 and talked all about praying and knowing that all this is true. Later in the night we were walking through this parking lot and a guy yelled at us....it was Brian again haha. Weird how we ran into him AGAIN.

Saturday was a fun time. We got invited to go to the Korean Jesus church again, so I split up with Elder plumb (he didn't want to go) and Elder Halladay, Elder Fazar, and Elder Jones went to the church. They actuakky got kicked out because the service was "too deep and complicated for people who aren't members" or something, so they went back after the service to try to teach but ended up getting taught their plan of salvation basically. Later in the day we helped this cool family move in. The husband is a member and his wife and step son are Buddist. They're from Thailand and are pretty open to the church, hopefully we can teach them eventually. I've taught buddhist people before, which is weird because I'm serving and Wyoming, USA.

Sunday was amazing, let's talk about Brian again. He came to church. And everyone introduced themselves it was perfect. Also the come follow me lesson was one of the most spiritual Sunday schools I've had in my entire life. Now let's fast forward to Monday when we met with him again! He told us he loved church but wishes he wasn't as lost during Sunday school, so he said he started choosing a lesson from come follow me to study every night. Also we were at the church building and he told us he found the Facebook page or something for our ward and got on it so he can know about things happening and also if service opportunities arise, he said he wants to come help clean and do maintenance on the church and stuff. So basically he's doing more than most members of the church do. So we taught him, he started off by telling us he probably won't be baptized before elder Fazar goes home (he flies home on Saturday the 29th, and his last day in cheyenne is Wednesday the 26th). So we talked a lot about faith tried to resolve concerns, ended up going through the baptismal interview questions and one thing led to another and he is planning on getting baptized on tbr 26th.....how did this happen? He literally sold himself, he said "you guys shohkg be car salesman" then we explained to him that we walked up to the car, he told us everything he likes about it and decided to buy it as we just stood there. As we were leaving we said "you sold the car to yourself" and he said "I think I just bought the car". It was amazing.

Spiritual thought: What we talked about with Brian a lot was how faith is an action. Lots of people think you have to know everything, then you can take the leap of faith. But it is usually the other way around. We just need to know enough, then the leap of faith allows us to grow our testimonies and grow our knowledge. Kinda how in missionary work revelation comes as we're moving our feet. Sitting in the apartment praying is good I guess but nothing will happen until we go out and work, then the lord guides us. If you want a testimony of tithing, pay tithing. If you want a testimony of prayer, start praying. Faith is a principle of action.

Fun stuff:
-we were at the bird farm and had to clean up pig guts. A poor pig died, so they fed him to his other pig friends.
-on the other hand there were lots of adorable ducks and baby lambs that made the bird farm worth it
-I had to go to the bathroom REALLY BAD, but were driving home and Elder Halladay saw a giant HALLADAY sign and Halladay Motors that he wanted to take a picture with. He pulled over and I was in pain, but we ended up talking to this cool guy named Joe and he took a book of mormon and I didn't need to go that bad as we talked to him. But when we said bye and Elder Halladay was taking his picture the pain came back
-Monday morning we went to get our flat tire fixed, and we're tempted by nacho fries and went and got taco bell after. Then on the way home there's a McDonald's and taco John's across the street from each other. For some reason we really wanted Mcgrittles and once we gave in to McDonald's we decided we might as well go to taco John's, then later that day we had already given up so we went and got ice cream at sonic. Also that night we got desert at dinner and at a member lesson we got Cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory.
-in the same day I got called Tom Cruise and Paul Rudd
-this awesome member gave us all candy bars for Father's day (I guess I'm a father because I've trianed other missionaries) and I asked for a big hunk and she found one for me :)
