25 June 2019 - #childlikefaith

Welp it has been a good week. Zone conference, preparing someone for baptism....its been good.

So last Tuesday was a good day. We got together with our district and it was a fun time. We went mini golfing and sadly I didn't win. And I deserved the loss because of how confident I was in my mini golfing skills. But my confidence in skipbo and Catan on preparation days are still backed up by my performance. That night we had a cool experience, we went to teach a family a "member missionary" lesson and they had a nonmember there! He is this cool guy from Ireland and I could barely understand him it was awesome. He is living with this family over the summer and is here coaching soccer. He sat through the whole lesson and made some comments. We offered him a Book of Mormon and he told us he wasn't really religious. BUT he came to church on Sunday with the family and that was cool to see. We'll see if he stays not religious, it's hard to when you're surrounded by the spirit all the time.

The next day we did exchanges with some Elders that are serving in Torrington. It was a good day because we got lots of stuff done. On exchanges we always try to take part in all phases of missionary work and that was fun. The next day was zone conference which was amazing but sad. It was the last zone conference with President and Sister McMurray. But it was really spiritually uplifting and I enjoyed it. At the end of every zone conference we have "zone breakout". At our zone conference we have Cheyenne Zone and Laramie zone, so we split up and did trainings in our own zone. Me, Elder Halladay, and Elder Fazar trained on "childlike faith" which I'll mention some things we talked about in my spiritual thought, but it was amazing. Our whole zone the rest of this week has been sending in messages in our chats with all the hash tags #childlikefaith #faithlikeachild #faithtoexpect, so that was awesome faith is really powerful and a whole room and zone full of faithful missionaries is amazing. The rest of the day we went on a little exchange with the elders from Scott's bluff Nebraska since they were in town.

We went to one of the districts district council on Friday and it was awesome, the district leader elder Ratliff basically chastised his district for not doing member missionary work enough. It was awesome and he challenged everyone to schedule an appointment with members right then. Kinds freaked some people out but everyone started calling and everyone got an appointment. Saturday was a good day, we had a meeting with the high councilman in the stake who is over missionary work. He fed us crepes and blew our minds spiritually with doctrine which was awesome. I've met a few spiritual giants on my mission and this guy is one of them. He also made sure we had someone coming with us to our lesson with Brian that night and have us some people to think about inviting. One of the people he recommended ended up being willing and also offered his home. So that night we showed up at this members house and we walked into the garage and he had a beautiful corvette. Which blew our minds because Brian is the president of the corvette club in cheyenne! So that lesson went perfect and the member and Brian became friends immediately.

Sunday was amazing, we had a lot of people show up to church. 4 people were teaching, a lady named Zanobia who is from China who wants to get baptized, and Oshen the guy that's from Ireland. Brian felt the spirit strongly during church and stood up in Elders quorum and announced he is getting baptized this Wednesday to everyone! Then we met for a little bit after church go plan the baptism. Everything was going perfect. Then later that day we were at a members home sharing a message and I check my phone and there is a message from Brian saying he wants to postpone the baptism for a couple months.... We ran over there to talk to him and see what was up and man that was rough. We had a lesson planned for Monday night and his baptismal interview planned for after that. We left his home with things not looking good but we told him to think about it for the next day until Monday night.

Monday went well even though we were worried about Brian all day. We had dinner with a family who said they were inviting over a less active member and his nonmember wife. Turns out they were from Cornerstone (my first area I served in in cheyenne) and I had met them a couple times before. I actually tried really hard to teach them haha. So that was cool to see them again and try again to try to teach them! Then we had our lesson with Brian. We had messaged him throughout the day and things still weren't looking up.  Long story Short, miracles happened and before we started he told us he decided he was going to get baptized on Wednesday! Truly God takes care of His children and as missionaries when we did all we could do he was able to overcome his problems!

Spiritual thought: Child Like Faith. Having faith like a child is powerful. Often you hear the stories of little kids losing a toy and praying to find it and they find it and they KNOW God is real. Think of David in the Old Testament. He was young but fully believed he could best Goliath. It makes sense why people doubted that and it honestly doesn't make sense that David was able to beat him. But he had the faith and had full trust in the Lord that God would help him. Same ajrh the stripling warriors on the Book of Mormon. There were good men that fought as well who I'm sure had faith but some were killed. But the stripling warriors KNEW that I'd they did not doubt God would deliver them. Because of their pure, young faith they were all spared and NONE were lost. The closer we get our faith and our expectations to what the Lord has promised us, the more we see those promised fulfilled in our lives. God loves all of us, he loves those of us with very little to no faith, and he loves those with Huge faith, faith like a child. He wants to bless both, but the difference is he has access to and power to bless one because of their faith. Expect the lord to bless you, put more faith in Him, and His promised will be fulfilled.
