1 October 2019 - LONG(mont) WAY FROM WYOMING

¡Hola personas!

Big news first, tomorrow I'm leaving Wyoming for the first time in the last 14 months! I'm going to Longmont Colorado and I'll be with Elder Brimley. Should be pretty cool, he came out with me just like Elder Huntsman AND he is from Mesa Arizona!

Other than that big news, this last week was super awesome. We had Elder Wong come for mission tour and he was fantastic. Monday night we drove down to Colorado and had a special meeting with him. He pretty much roasted us the whole time, yet somehow he was able to express love for us at the same time. In that meeting he taught us a lot. He told us that he will only teach our meeting according to how we are prepared. He said he has no idea what he is going to teach the next few days. Kinda blew our minds. Drove home and repented and prepared myself for him coming to teach Cheyenne and Laramie zone the next day.

Tuesday like I said was full of elder Wong just teaching us. He walked in and observed, discerned, then taught according to what the Spirit told him. He was super funny, super bold with inviting us to repent, then super loving at the same time. A few times he closed his eyes and just thought and taught us. It was a super good time. Then that evening we were thinking of what to do and we felt inspired to visit this lady we helped move a little bit ago. A while back we invited her to hear our message but she declined....BUT the member that set us up with her told us not to give up so we've been going by. This evening she was home and we ended up talking to her for a little bit. Before we left, we had taught her, read from the Book of Mormon with her, and given her a copy. We'll be back for sure.

Wednesday we had a lesson with Brian and he is AWESOME. He was telling us about his buddy in the corvette club (Brian is the Cheyenne corvette club president). Apparently they were talking about church and one thing let to ankther and he invited his friend to church with him. Along with that he mentioned how he recently got baptized and joined the church, and told his friend that he can too! That was the best news to hear, I love Brian to much. That night we felt really good about going to this street to knock a few doors. Drove past this house and saw a couple people sitting outside so we parked and walked down the street. We felt really good about those people we saw and were excited to talk with them. Yeah they completely denied us....BUT we don't give up so we kept going down the street and knocked doors. A few houses down we ran into a stream of 4 houses, all of them telling us that we could come back. And one of them spoke ZERO English but thanks to high school Spanish we were able to figure out he loves Jesus and we could come back any day in the evening to share a message about him. AND the missionary coming to Cheyenne to replace me is a Spanish missionary. The Lord knows what he is doing.

Thursday was a strange day. We dropped off our car at the Toyota dealership to get it fixed because a missionary slammed the back door and it won't open anymore....(no, it wasn't me). So we dropped it off and realized we had no idea what to do. Luckily the dealership was in our area, so we just started walking. Walked to a sketchy park and did daily planning. Then we walked all through downtown Cheyenne and made it to another park. We had walker FOREVER so we sat down on a park bench. Turned out to be pretty effective. We just sat on the bench and everyone that walked past we talked to, and a LOT had dogs which made it super easy to talk to them. It was a good time. After a while Jamie came to the park and we had a lesson with her. She's the best. Walked all the way back to the dealership and the car still wasn't done. So finally we sucked up our pride and called someone to help us out to give us a ride. That night we our lesson with Brian's friend! Turned out this friend also knew someone in our ward, and we had dinner planned with then for Thursday night. So we had dinner, and Brian and his friend were there! It went super good and hopefully soon we'll be teaching him regularly.

Friday morning all the missionaries leaving this transfer drove down to the mission office. We picked up Elder Plumb because his companion was going home and he needed some people to be with before transfers. We went from that to a lesson and it was super awkward because there was 3 of us who had never taught together before. But it went fine, felt great to teach and testify about the Restoration of the gospel and about the Book of Mormon. Then that evening we attending a baptism of somebody in the zone and it was super cool. 2 years ago he was found and taught in Laramie, then he was kinda lost but recently he was found again and taught and baptized. One of the missionaries that found him 2 years ago came up and performed the baptism. Super cool to see.

On Saturday we were walking around and we ran jntk this family loading stuff into a moving van. We offered our help and next thing you know it was 2 hours later and we were still helping them move. They even ordered pizza for us. It was pretty cool how we were led to exactly where we needed to be. They're moving to Casper which is in our mission, so we are trying to help get in contact with the missionaries up there.

Sunday was fantastic, we had 3 wards to attend and all 3 had their primary programs. Definitely a strong spirit and definitely saw an Elder next to me start crying.

Monday was a busy day again, we had another meeting in Colorado on the morning. We drove down and spent a few hours talking. It was a pretty good time, what I took away from it was basically as a mission we've been living the law of Moses and we are going to stop that and stop all the little made up rules and simplify and live a higher law. While being more strict with the things that truly matter. I'm really excited, President Palmer is amazing and with Elder Wong visiting we learned a lot. When we got back we felt like we needed to contact this guy. We felt really good about it, even as we were walking up to the door. Aaaand nobody answered. So we stayed in the area because the Lord led us there for a reason. Ended up helping people load a moving van again! His ways are higher than my ways, and His thoughts are better than my thoughts.

Fun stuff:
-we took a couple Elders out to China buffet. It was a mistake. Elder Bishop wasn't slowing down and was getting plates and plates and plates full. We drove them to an appointment and he was burping and having issues on the drive....we got out and he walked over to a dumpster and puked his guts out. He was all good after that though.
-we went to Texas roadhouse one night because we had no dinner. BUT we were given a gift card the other day....we ended up getting our meal paid for by an anonymous person it was a super huge miracle
-in the meeting on Monday elder Wong was telling us how he wanted everything set up. I asked a questions about lunch tables because we were in charge of setting that stuff up....he roasted me in front of everyone. He asked who asked me to set up tables, and if it was an Apostle. Then he told me to always listen to a general authority. I learned a lot.
-Elder Wong also played football with me and Elder Huntsman. He used a water bottle, Elder Huntsman was the center, and I was a wide receiver. I ended up not being good enough so President Palmer replaced me. (there was a reason for this activity, we learned something from it)

Spiritual Thought: I was reading about Amulek this past week and in my Book of Mormon I'm studying specifically knowledge and faith. Alma 10:6 was very interesting. Amulek said that he knew but "would not know". Kinds of confusing but I think sometimes we are like that. God gives us witnesses enough. God is calling out to us but are we listening? What I can promise is that he is there, he wants you to know of his truth. He is giving it to you, but we need to open our ears to hear and our eyes to see. And when we do we will be set free. In that same verse he says he was rebelling against God until "the fourth day of this seventh month". July 4th? On independence day he stopped rebelling against God and therefore was set free.
