22 October 2019 - I Love Elder Brimley

Brethren and Sisteren

^^I asked elder Brimley what my subject should be, and he told me that^^

Every day this week has been good! I guess I can start off by sharing a miracle that happened last Tuesday. We had to drive up to Loveland, which isn't that much of a drive, but we didn't have all the time we usually have proselyting as usual. We decided to go contact some people who used to be taught. You could say it was a failure, nobody was home...BUT the last person we went to contact, we walked up to his door as a lady in the apartment next to him was getting into her door. She had her hands full and was unlocking her door, providing us with the perfect opportunity to talk to her. She accepted our invitation to share a message with her and we're going to go back and teach her!

Wednesday we were on exchanges with the APs, and I was with Elder Stockwell. Elder Stockwell was my first district leader in my mission, and the first elder I went on exchanges with. So it was cool to be back with him after 15 months.

Thursday our morning was full of meetings, went to grab Arby's in between two district councils and showed up late. But it was worth it because we met a dude who served in Longmont as a missionary 45 years ago, and he just got released as a bishop last week so he's going on a road trip. He fed us lunch and we had a good talk, worth being late to district Council. Went straight from that to a guy we met a little bit ago. He opened the door and said "hold on, let me aks my daughter of she's free". It was interesting for him to say that usually doesn't happen. But he came out and said she was busy then opened up to us and told us his daughter is super sick and really needs this. It was pretty cool to see how we have exactly what him and his family needs. The Lord loves His children, I have learned that a lot more as I've seen him place into our path people who need HIS help. Ran from that to another appointment. Turned out the address he gave us didn't exist....BUT we talked to a guy on his porch and set up a return appointment with him. Little did the guy who gave us a fake address know that he was helping us! Ran from that to an appointment in Lyons, then an appointment back in Longmont. Super busy day but those are the best days.

Saturday we had a cool experience meeting this guy on the street. We were in this apartment complex and we had to leave for dinner so we were walking back to the car. Ran into Nick and started talking to him. 25 minutes later we were still there sharing with him truths from the plan of salvation. He had a lot of struggles with his life and with his mother passing away, and all his questions would be answered by the knowledge of the plan of salvation. We showed up late to dinner, but was well worth it.

Sunday morning we went with a youth in our ward to pick up a guy were teaching. He was there and cane to church with us and it was great! Me and Elder Brimley gave talks in sacrament meeting and it went pretty well!

Monday we had zone conference and that was super inspiring. President Palmer is a great mission president, he is doing a lot of good for this mission! We had zone conference in a town named Fredrick and had our interviews pretty late so not much time to go out and work, which was a bummer! But it was a super good week here in Longs Peak! I'm so grateful to be more deeply converted to the gospel, it is so true!

Fun stuff:
-we were fed beans 3 days in a row....not good...its a magical fruit
-we're teaching a dude named Emmanuel and every time we go to teach him we listen to a Christmas song we have called "Emmanuel"
-we went to Dutch bros and met this super cool dude working there that paid for all 4 of us missionaries.
-me and Elder Brimley are very jucg alike but he's a Yankees fan and I'm a red Sox fan....Emmanuel came to church in a Yankees jacket....

Spiritual thought: 2 Corinthians 4:18 "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." As missionaries all we go around and teach people about are things that are "unseen". But truly those things that are unseen, the eternal things, are of most importance. Don't get distracted by things that are "seen" there is so much that can distract you from what is truly important.

Pictures:
-we caught this dude....shortly after this picture was taken he pinched my finger and it hurt like crazy
