Yo
Last Wednesday I was on exchanges with an Elder named Elder Landin. He was born in Brazil then moved to Japan so he speak Portuguese and Japanese and had to learn english for his mission. He is awesome, brought me back to my dad with Elder Chinbaatar! That night we were able to get in to talk to this guy named Brad. He had just returned from the hospital with his wife, she's going through a lot of things. He didn't have time for a lesson but we talked a little bit and we're able to teach him about Christ's Atonement and prayer. I can study a lot about prayer and the Atonement, but when I am able to teach someone my testimony is strengthened. It's cool to see how intellectually I may understand something, but it doesn't change me until I experience it or I teach someone else about it.
Friday morning me and Elder Brimley were pumped and were confident the Lord would help is and provide miracles throughout the day. We planned on going to this apartment complex to try to teach a few people....and none of them went through. But we kept on going and just casually decided (looking back i know it was the spirit) to go contact this guy named Steven. We've never taught him before but have ran into him a couple times. Turns out he was home and he let us right in. The lord provided. Later that day the Lord provided again. We didn't have anyone scheduled to feed us dinner, so we scheduled our dinner time for 8-9 to finish the night. But a random member called us and we had 45 minutes until a lesson and he took us out to eat real quick! Again the Lord provided. Then the lesson that night was perfect, we planned on teaching this person about the law of chastity and the word of wisdom. Before we even started teaching he mentioned both this points and that he was willing to live those laws. Miracles.
Cool experience Saturday morning. We were talking with the stake president trying to figure out what we could do to help the members on the stake with missionary work. Presidet John learned back, thought for two seconds, then leaned forward and said he had a thought come to him and told us the plan. We saw him receive Revelation for his stake right on front of us! Pretty cool.
Sunday was a good day, we had a member take someone were teaching to church. Then at church that member was announced as the new elders quorum president. So, by no coincidence I'm sure, the Elders quorum president is now acquainted with the person we are teaching! Then that night we were over at that members house and were having a good conversation about sharing the gospel. But all the sudden the spirit ook over and some of the kids opened up about struggles with sharing the gospel and we opened up to scriptures we've never even thought about teaching with before. That was pretty cool to see the spirit take over the lesson.
Miracle from yesterday. We had an appointment with this guy named Kevin and we showed up and he wasn't there. We had few options, chose the option to go walk a trail near his place. An hour later we walked back past his place to go to our car and I said "should we knock on this guys door again" and then he was RIGHT THERE on his porch. Ended up being able to teach him, he was just at the store earlier. The Lord provides.
There's many other miracles I've seen this week, but I'll NEVER be able to share them all. Just know I love my mission and I'll never be able to share the smallest part of what I FEEL. The church is true and miracles happen, when we have the faith.
Spiritual thought: Alma 34:41"have patience, and bear with those afflictions, with a firm hope that ye shall one day rest from all your afflictions". I testify of the truthfulness of that scripture. Sometimes we pray and pray and pray and we still don't escape the trial. The Lord doesn't take it from us. Sometimes we think, "maybe if I just had a little more faith, the Lord could help me?" Sometimes we do the best we can and the afflictions still overwhelm us. Have enough faith in the promise that someday you will rest. Endure, don't give up, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. And there's a light with you the whole way through the tunnel. That light is Jesus Christ.
Fun stuff:
-it's been SNOWING A LOT recently. Today has been extra bad.
-while walking around we often throw snowballs at each other....but a few days ago elder Brimley threw a huge ice ball that smacked me on the side of the head.
-we were shoveling and a lady came out and called us the Shovel Angels
