Hey friends
This may be a little short because we are going to the temple today! I apologize (but not really) that I give priority to the House of the Lord over letting yall know how my week went!
Last Tuesday was a winter wonderland. Somehow we got out car out to visit this person that night. We were blessed with safety and with a successful time working that night!
Wednesday was busyyy. We had a meeting with the whole zone and it was great. Had a good time, especially talking about #lighttheworld (if you dont know what that is visit lighttheworld.org). Christmas is the best time of year. We had this meeting before Thanksgiving and sang a Christmas song, I made sure to let everyone know that it is OKAY to celebrate the birth of the Savior before turkey day. After that we ran up to Lyons and it was scary. We visited a couple houses deep into the mountains which was scary going through the snow trying not to die. But the Lord provides, and we had some really good lessons.
Thursday night we had a really cool lesson at dinner. We taught them the Restoration which we usually wouldn't teach BUT it turned out to be amazing. The mom walked out with us and thanked us, telling us that's what they needed. Apparently they spent the last couple days with family who weren't the best of examples and it's taken a toll on their kids. She started crying out in her front yard in the cold with us. It was a pretty cool experience, the Lord knows His children and he knows what the need. We just deliver the message.
Sunday night was busy, we went from appointment to appointment talking about lighting the world!
Monday we had zone conference and that took up most of the day. It was great felt spiritually fed and had a good time as well. Had a gift exchange and I wrapped a lamp shade full of patatoes, an oreo, a dollar bill, and a bar of soap. I ended up with a box full of a carrying bag, a can of chicken, and a bag of cheezits. Good times, President Palmer is a great mission president. After zone conference we changed a flat tire, went to dinner, a lesson, a lesson, a lesson, and a lesson!
Spiritual thought: With #lighttheworld I've been thinking a lot about how Chris is THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. He truly is light. The sign of His birth in the new world was a day and a night and a day without darkness. The sign that He was here was light! Then the sign of his death, the sign of Him leaving the earth was darkness. Then when he appeared to the Nephites some of His first words were "I am the light". In 3 Nephi 18:21 the Lord says "hold up your light that it may shine unto the world. Behold I am the light which ye shall hold up - that which ye have seen me do". As we look outwards and serve this month (and every other month of the year!) remember that it is about Christ. Light the world with THE LIGHT. Do what He would do if he were here. Do it one by one. I promise that the Savior is our perfect example, and as we love and serve the way He did, many blessings will come to our own lives. I have a huge testimony of that, having the privilege to serve a mission and serve others for 2 years. I have been blessed beyond measure.
Fun stuff:
-we've been sliding all over the ice. This last week we were sliding for fun and Elder Brimley said "I can slide further than you" as he went to slide and he slipped, flung his book of mormon 10 feet away and smacked the ground. I picked up his book and almost slipped myself while dying laughing
-I ended up slipping a few days later on Monday and it was just the perfect way to end that day. The morning started with us driving to pick up a set of missionaries and when we got to their apartment, we somehow put a gaint gash in our front right tire and were driving on the rim...SO we scrambled to get to zone conference (which was in Loveland) in a different car. Got back after that and changed the tire in our suits and the hulk must've put on that tire because it wasn't coming loose. Luckily my anger was kindled against it and it gave me power to undo the tire and we only showed up to dinner 10 minutes late.
-it's been a week....but I'm the happiest I can be. There is so much to be grateful for even when it's cold, you're slipping on ice, and having people slash your tires!
