31 December 2019 - This Christmas was Sick

Hello friends.

My week FLEW by. Christmas Eve and Christmas were nothing crazy! We woke up early on Christmas and went to IHOP with another set of Elders. That place is busy on Christmas morning, poor employees. After that we just hung out all day, ended up at a members home that evening for dinner and we watched toy story 4! Either it's a really funny movie, or me and Elder Brimley haven't seen a funny movie in a while so we thought it was more hilarious than it was.

Friday started feeling more like a normal work day FINALLY! We went out and saw some of the people we're teaching, had a really interesting exchange with one. He answered the door with lipstick on, covered his mouth and smudged it, and said he wasn't feeling well and to come back. Kinda strange...i don't think he was expecting us. Later that day we had a really cool experience at a members home. Usually we prepare a message to share after dinner with the whole family. But this time, as they were cleaning up, the mom sat down and asked her son if he had any questions about preparing for a mission. He ended up only asking 2 questions but me and Elder Brimley spent the rest of our time there answering those two questions. The message we prepared went out the window but something much better came from the Spirit. Then getting a text afterwards from his dad made our night! After that we stopped by this persons home and stayed there for over an hour as he explained everything wrong with religion. BUT as smart as he was and as young as we are, we were not confounded before men :).

Next couple days were busy, Sunday is always full of meetings. Then Monday we had a meeting st the mission office in Windsor. Monday we rushed home because we had scheduled 2 DINNERS. 2 of the coolest families in the ward, and one who hasn't fed us in a long time. The first dinner was scheduled but we didn't out it on our calendar. So the second family texted us and said they could feed us but it would have to be late. So we thought about it and made the best choice....scheduled both dinners. We went to smash burger with the first, and the second was a big roast with mashed potatoes and rolls and everything. The Lord blessed us that night with room on our stomach. And it ended uo being worth it, had really good conversations after dinner with both of them.

Fun stuff:
-my mom sent me and Elder Brimley Pj's for Christmas (thanks mom). But there was a mistake and Elder Brimley ended up with girl pants....havent stopped telling him that he's been wearing girl pants for the last few days
-there was ZERO snow on Christmas, then two days later it snowed. All these AZ boys wanted was a white Christmas and it was only a few days late!
-it took all of 4 minutes to take down our Christmas decorations

Spiritual thought: In Malachi 3:14-18 there's a story of the children of Israel complaining about keeping the commandments. Often we see ourselves in the same situation. What does it profit us? Those who are breaking the commandments seems happier. What's the point? In the end it is always worth it. The joy that comes in the end, the joy that will be ENDLESS is in store for those who keep the commandments of the Lord. True, the wicked may have "joy in their works for a season", but I testify that it is always temporary. The creator of the universe, who has given us the commandments, knows a lot more than we do. He has a much bigger perspective. You will have more enjoy as you follow and keep the commandments.

I took zero pictures this week....im sorry...here is a picture of me and Elder Chinbaatar from a year ago
