28 January 2020 - Red Sox>Yankees-Elder Milius>Elder Brimley

Heya, Elder Milius here

Last Tuesday we went up to Estes Park and went on another hike. A sister had a super nice camera so there's some legit pictures. It was a good day, went out that night and saw some people, it was good.

Wednesday was good. We went to a could district councils and learned a lot. Had a good time at both of those, I've definitely been blessed by all the missionaries I've been able to serve around. I thought I came to this mission for the people I would teach and realized also for my mission president. But I definitely think some of the missionaries I have met have been a huge part of why I'm here. After that we went and taught Manny! Had a good lesson, he totally gets the gospel! He shared with us a pretty cool dream his mother had which led to him giving her a Spanish book of Mormon and her recognizing the book! He also continues to defend the church to his friends and invite people to church with him. Awesome guy.

Had an exchange with Elder Landin Thursday. A couple transfers ago I went on an exchange with him and we both have been here 3 transfers so we're back together! Had a good time. Met a guy who was super cool but gave a pamphlet back to us when we gave it to him because Jesus wasn't black on it. I offered to color it in but that didn't work. Although we kept talking to him for a while and he ended up taking the pamphlet back so he could call us and tell us where the scriptures say Jesus is black. Had a good rest of the day, took ourselves out to Buffalo Wild wings, it was good.

We had interviews with President Friday. It was good time, he pulled both me and Elder Brimley in to talk to us together for a bit which was cool. He always interviews the senior couples together so it was kinda weird to be like a senior couple with Elder Brimley....but eh oh well. Talked with him alone afterwards and it was good. Ran to a lesson right after that and taught the most principles I've ever taught. This person is pretty solid and just needed to go over some stuff. So we taught the entire plan of salvation and ALL the commandments we teach. He got it all, pretty cool.

Saturday we spent some time helping this family set up a fence at their ranch. Felt like I was back in Wyoming, it was nice to have the boots back on. Went to a baptism for another ward and it was amazing. Baptismal services are incredible, if you have an opportunity to go witness one GO!

Church was super good, Manny came and almost brought a friend but the friend bailed. Helped teach the priest quorum and spent some time with them. After that Manny had a baptism around 1pm for baptism and everything went well, so he is getting baptized this Saturday! Pray for him!

Monday was LONG. We had a meeting in Windsor which lasted about 5 hours, but it was good. Learned a lot. Came back and did some studying before running to dinner. Talked about prayer with these two little kids and it was super fun. But very difficult. I'm sorry mom and dad for how I acted when I was little and you were trying to teach me. Ended up doing an emergency exchange that night because an Elder needed to be driven up to Estes but the Spanish elder driving him up needed to be in Longmont to give a blessing for someone. So Elder Brimley drove up to Estes and I went with Elder Hilbig for the blessing. Got a sneak peak of a foreign mission. Walked into this building and everyone was speaking Spanish and I said NOTHING. Eventually Elder Hilbig said "El no habla Español" and it was less awkward but yeah. Despite not being able to understand after the blessing everyone was silent for a few minutes and the Spirit was strong. You always hear people say that even if you can't understand you can feel the Spirit, but it's TRUE.

Spiritual thought: 1 Samuel 15:22 "And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams." This scripture and Sauls choices have taught me a lot. Clearly the Lord says" to obey is better than sacrifice". Often, especially on the mission, I see people trying to sacrifice their energy or time to receive extra blessings. But truly the first thing we should do is be obedient. Obedience truly does bring blessings, continue to obey the Lord and take your consecration higher by sacrificing. Don't flip the two. Never justify any disobedience. If you want to be happy, obey the commandments the Lord has given. Mosiah 2:41.

Fun stuff:
-we were at an Asian restaurant and we ended up talking about bean ice cream in Japan and turns out they had red bean ice cream at this place. So the member got some for us and it was good....bjt not great....but because he got it for us I felt obligated to eat it
-we got some sausage and egg mcmuffins on our way to Windsor Monday and had 2 left. We left them in the car for the entire day and now our truck smells like a landfill....
