Can't believe how many things can get packed into 7 short days, BUT here is a portion of my week:
Last Wednesday we had zone conference. Got some good training that we needed and had a fun time. But for a little bit we focused on the Restoration of the gospel and talked a lot about the First Vision. I'm so grateful I have a testimony of that event. I do know that Joseph Smith saw God. Leaving that zone conference I committed to never be shy about teaching about or testifying of the vision Joseph Smith had in the Grove in the spring of 1820. It was real and it was important.
Had a powerful time at a members home Thursday night. We decided to share message on prayer, a pretty simple yet profound principle. Ended up being something the mother needed, she even expressed that she KNEW we would talk about prayer. Theyre going through a lot and it was cool to be a messenger from the Lord to her and her family.
Had an exchange with Elder Andrus on Friday. Elder Andrus is cool, he replaced me in Longmont as Elder Brimleys companion. So that was fun to be around Elder Brimley again. Me and Elder Andrus saw some cool miracles. One lady had had contact with missionaries in the past but unfortunately her husband has chased them off and she was kinda marked as a "do not contact". But we decided to stop by anyway because we fear no man. The lady answered and we talked on the porch for a while. Apparently that husband is now out of the picture. She has been through a lot and recently she was counseled that she needed religion in her life. She was thinking about calling the bishop and getting in touch with the church and we knocked on the door. She recognized that it was not a coincidence and the Lord was looking out for her. We shared a scripture and felt the spirit very strongly right there on the front porch.
Saturday had an exchange with Elder Muterspaugh. He's a cool guy too, he actually was Elder Andrus' companion in the MTC. AND they both were at the MTC the same time as me. Went for a walk and talked to tons of people. Met a few willing to meet with us again. The most solid was a high school kid who has a friend who's a member. Honestly the only reason he probably talked with us was because of my bike skills. (I don't actually have bike skills). He was hanging out at the park and we saw his bike and got him to teach us a few tricks. Bunny hop, donkey kick, fakie....i think that's what they were called. Good time.
Sunday was good as always, stayed busy at church meetings and visiting people. Which led to Monday which was the same thing, we had a pretty long meeting and I had my interview with President Palmer. That night we had a pretty powerful lesson with a guy we've been teaching. Talked about God's plan and focused a lot on why we need a savior. We brought a member and it was pretty cool to see them relate so well. Both have gone through similar experiences and one has made it through because of Christ. We're just trying to help the guy we're teaching make the same path towards the tree of life.
Fun stuff:
-Me and Elder Andrus went to McDonald's after playing basketball for exercise to grab some hot N spicy mcgrittles (mmMmm). And we pull up the the window and the lady told us a guy 2 cars up paid for everybody in the drive through
-same day me and Elder Andrus were walking around a lake and found 2 dollars on the ground. A couple walked past and I used it as an opportunity to talk to them. Asked them if they knew who's it was blah blah, then they said I should probably just keep it and started walking away so to get them to stay I offered one of the dollars to them....it was kinda awkward idk what I was trying to do. Looking back I realize I was trying to pay them to talk with us.
-Elder Huntsman and his companion came over to spent the night before our meeting on Monday. Idk what happened but we decided to play a game where we fill out mouths with water and try not to laugh....it was an interesting time...I failed pretty badly and had water shooting out of my nose when Elder Hughes took an orange and through it against our front door
Spiritual thought: Luke 22:31-32 "the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat...But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not". Lots to learn from these verses, but what I included is for the point I will make. Satan, the father of all lies, desires that all men might be miserable like unto himself. He desires for you to be unhappy. But take comfort in knowing that the Savior of the world is on your side. Insert YOUR name when the Lord says "Simon". If you think He doesn't care about your "insignificant" life, you're wrong. He suffered and died for you and loves you just as the next person. And because He did it for all doesn't make His relationship less sincere. I promise you can have a personal relationship with Him if you let Him. So let Him. You are free to choose liberty and eternal life through HIM or allow Satan "to have you" by choosing captivaty and death. (2 Nephi 2:27)
