Hola amigos
Probably said Hola amigos at the beginning of an email before, sorry for the lack of creativity!
Had a good week! Wednesday we met as a zone in Greeley. Had a good time, ran to wing stop after because greeley has a wing stop. We have wing shack in Windsor which is good, but wing stop...good stuff...so that was a tender mercy. Had a 10 minute lesson before a baptismal interview that day to cover a lot of material. Very long story, but its a difficult situation. This 10 year old girl was on date for Sunday and hadn't been taught all the lessons but the only time we had was 10 minutes on Wednesday evening. So that was fun!
Had a good lesson Thursday at the park. We met this kid at the park last week and he was legit, let me ride his bike around. Turns out he knew a member of our ward, SO Thursday we set up a lesson right after school. It was a cool lesson....literally cool. I was freezing outside in the wind. BUT it was good. There are two priests in our ward who are actively helping us teach their friends. Pretty cool, the youth are strong.
Had an exchange with Elder Larson on Friday. Had a good time. We were walking from our apartment to Windsor lake to go street contact because the was AMAZING outside (because it happens to get super warm and nice and then DUMP snow). Before we even got to the lake we asked this guy about his Harley he was washing outside. Our question about his Harley led to a 3p minute conversation about God. Kinda cool how that works.
Saturday we were on exchanges again and I was with Elder Williams. Really big dude that played football for Army. I looked like a little kid walking with him. Another set of missionaries actually met a dude later that day and the guy mentioned how he had talked to us earlier. We knew he was talking about me and Elder Williams because he said it was a big guy and a little guy.
Sunday we had the baptism for the little 10 year old girl AND her little 8 year old brother. Definitely lots of craziness went into planning this baptism but sitting there witnessing the baptism was the best feeling. Few feelings are better than that to be honest. Spirit confirmed to me that what happened was good, and any trouble leading to that moment was worth it all. Got a surprise opportunity to bear my testimony along with Elder Hughes as well. Really cool experience.
Had an exchange with Elder Stockwell on Monday! I've been on 4 exchanges in my mission with Elder Stockwell. He was my first exchange and I am his last exchange! He goes home on the 19th, which is crazy. But we had a really good day. Went out to lunch at a Mexican restaurant I've been to 4 times in the last 3 weeks. We even went the Saturday a few days before, but we were back. We thought it was just because of our appetite for Mexican food. Turns out it was for out waiter. She's always having fun with us, knows our orders, makes fun of us trying to speak Spanish. Elder Hughes tried to ask her what she likes to do for fun in Spanish. Somehow that led her to sit down at our table and express some very personal things she's going through. Being a missionary is the best. We testified to this woman. In the middle of her shift, in the middle of a Mexican food restaurant. Book of Mormon open, tears falling down. We testified to her of life after death, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the Love the Savior has for her and for her family. It was incredible. Brought her back a libro de mormon, and we will see her again. Had a good rest of the exchange, I've learned a lot from Elder Stockwell. It'll be sad to see him go.
Fun stuff:
-we started talking to these guys who were laying bricks and somehow kept talking about bricks for about 15 minutes. I know a lot about bricks now.
-my whole mission is fun, sorry I can't think of much else....
Spiritual thought: "The future is as bright as your faith". Your faith will determine your future. If you want to be happy, put all your trust and faith in the Lord and keep His commandments! President Nelson has described how taking a "cafeteria approach" to obedience will only bring misery. You can't live happy by picking and choosing which commandments to follow. Be all in, obey them all. The Lord doesn't want half of you, he doesn't want one foot in and one foot out, that will actually cause more stress and sorrow to your life. Dedicate your all to the Savior and you will find joy. You will be happy and blessed (Mosiah 2:41).
